Now that the last of the cherry blossoms have fallen from the trees and been swept away by the wind, we enter the season of rebirth and renewal. On the idol calendar, that means it’s time to get those reboots and new units up and running before Golden Week hits. In honor of the season, the theme of this weekend’s edition is “old vs. new” as both established acts and debutante’s are boisterously vying for our attention.
There were also enough new releases this week to fill two Weekenders, so apologies for the entries that didn’t slip in. You can let me know how badly I messed up over on the Homicidols Discord server.
First up, the overseas idol news:
Isiliel kicks off her Moonbow Rebellion World Tour with her first-ever show in Oslo backed by The Lilin.
Next weekend nonayu, Miho, and Village in Maier will be appearing at ANIMECON in the Netherlands. There will also be a special off-kai where you can go bowling with the idols!
Like a bit of djent and hardcore with your idol? Then give Vissare a try. They debut on May 14th, and the emergence of this new unit generated a LOT of chatter over on the Homicidols Discord server. The consensus seems to be that they look like a hot mess in all the right ways.
LUCY drop their very first MV for their Brit-punk ode to evolution.
HELZAPOPPIN’ made an animated lyric video (with English subs) for their electro swing ode to embezzlement.
Yamikumo release a live MV for their heavy metal ode to Jack the Ripper.
If the new album from CYNHN has left you short of breath, the new MV contains some instructive guidance.
PIGGS released a new digital single with the easy-to-remember Romaji title, “AMASUKOTONAIZENREIDE”.
One of our most venerable units dropped a new album out of nowhere, but it shouldn’t be a surprise that no one can predict the APOKALIPPPS.

XINXIN release their second per-debut MV and finally revealed their members.
