Hey, it’s the return of the Friday Fun, currently running a reduced service every 52 or 53 Fridays. Here we are at the end of 2021 and I think it’s safe to say that collective optimism for the forthcoming year is possibly lower than it was twelve months ago. But we’ll always have idols so let’s entertain ourselves today by forecasting their actions over the forthcoming centi-century.
First though, let’s see just how psychic we all were this time last year:
It’s here! The final moments of 2021 and time to unveil the results of the Homicidols community vote for best or, at least, most significant moments and releases of the year. I want to thank everyone for their participation in the voting. We had an awesome turnout which I credit to the incredible talent of the artists we cover and the superb work they turned out in the past year.
If your favorite idol, album or MV didn’t win in their category, just remember that geniuses are seldom recognized during their time (we stole this from SubenW in the Homicidols Discord Server as it was their reaction to the lack of any Best Of nominations for situasion; but we told them that we were going to steal it, so it’s okay).
Now, on to the winners! And on to 2022!! My fervent wish for the new year is for a world where international travel restrictions can be lifted. Let’s go!
If you haven’t been keeping up with the news lately, this might come as a major shock: AKB48’s Kashiwagi Yuki (also known as Yukirin) joined every single WACK group at once! How do some people find the time, honestly.
It’s no secret that we love Fingers Cross here, their music has been a favourite discovery from 2021. Always unafraid to say what they feel about politics or social issues, the group have a new unit formed around the theme of “the voice of the silent youth,” so get ready to listen to that voice in the form of SHIMMER SHRIMPMER!
The community voting for Homicidols Best of 2021 has closed. We had a huge turnout this year, so thank you to everyone who cast a ballot! While we tabulate the results and prepare the formal announcement of the winners (to be posted this Friday, December 31st) we thought it would be a good time to reveal the members of Team Homicidols’ individual picks for the best releases, moments and miscellanea of 2021.
We are now witnessing that rare conjunction that occurs only once every seven years where the Weekender and Christmas align to fall on the same day. So, Merry (or Happy) Christmas if you celebrate that kind of thing. Over in the Homicidols Discord Server, we’ve been collecting pics of idols in holiday cosplay so I snagged some of them and threw together a little X Mas e-card for everyone, just like Grandma used to make.
Codomomental are a talent powerhouse, you could call any handful of members their “golden child” and you’d get no disagreements even from people with differing tastes. One of those members is Nonamera who, after a short hiatus from the company, is back to reclaim her throne.
It is time! You’ve spent twelve months watching, streaming, celebrating and grieving all that the world of alternative and underground idol could thrown at you. You’ve told us what you felt were the most significant and compelling moments of the last year. We (meaning, “primarily Kerrie”; except for writing this intro, Kerrie did almost all the work pulling this together), have compiled your thoughts and, by community consensus, arrived at our OFFICIAL nominees for Homicidols Best of 2021.
If one of your favorites failed to snag a nomination and you wish to (diplomatically) tell the community how poor it’s taste and judgment is, feel free to drop by the Homicidols Discord server.
I could go on about the flurry of activity we saw in 2021 after the off-year of 2020 and how some of the categories were surprisingly deep (ecstatically so in terms of Debuts, but tragically so in the case of Disbandments), but you already know all that so let’s just hurry to the nominees and the voting part.
