Your Homicidols Weekender #379

Here’s a gentle reminder that this is your last weekend to get in your submissions for the best drops, hooks and choruses in alt-idol. Nomination close on Monday.

While we are still waiting for announcements of 2024 idol appearances in the States (other than the April tour by Broken By the Scream) there was a small bit of Idols-Around-th-World news this week:

Isiliel has landed in Taiwan for her first-ever performance in that country.

Your Homicidols Weekender #378

It was a crazy week, but I did finally manage to launch our latest community project seeking your nominations for the best drops, hooks, breakdowns, and choruses in alt, indie and underground idol.  I did realize, however, that I forgot to give a deadline for submissions. Why don’t we say, Monday, February 26th? That should work.

So, think of some good stuff to nominate this weekend but, if you’re in the UK, schedule a break to score tickets to WACK in the UK Vol. 2.  They go on sale today including some very limited VIP tickets that includes a light lunch with the members. Good luck to all going for that. I assume they will sell out in about four seconds.

In Search of the Best Drops, Hooks, and Choruses in Alternative Idol

It takes a village to be an alternative idol fan, and I mean that in all sincerity. It is why there is a whole team behind the running of Homicidols, and it is also the primary reason for the existence of the Homicidols Discord server.

We miss Maniac, the erstwhile founder of Homicidols dot com. Some weeks, more than than others. Maniac not only had impeccable musical tastes, but he was also able to sit down in front of a keyboard at 5:00 a.m. and pound out a cogent, inciteful, and amusing blog post and publish it before his coffee was cold.  That is not a feat that I am capable of. Case in point: I did a bunch of leg work last weekend for an article I intended to get out the door for Monday or Tuesday. Now here it is, Weekender time, and I still haven’t finished the darn thing.

It is my aspiration to be more like Maniac, so I will now be taking a page directly from his playbook. Will I wake up earlier? Be a more productive writer? Adopt a better sense of humor?

Your Homicidols Weekender #376

I’ve been getting a bit antsy of late, waiting for any announcement of plans idols may have to head west in 2024. Other than the upcoming WACK in the UK Part 2,  things have been pretty quiet. That is, unless you happened to be in the Netherlands this week where Miho, Nonayu, and Okinawa Electric Girl Saya dropped by to warm some western, winter hearts.
