Your Homicidols Weekender #358

I really did want to put together a post this week about what’s going on at Codomomental with KAQRIYOTERROR and the Not Secured, Loose Ends reboot but, I’ll be honest: at this point I’m as confused as every one else. As soon as I develop some lucid insight into the situation, I will be sure to articulate it to everyone.

In the meantime, one thing did become crystal clear this week: the details of NEO JAPONISM’s debut US tour:

Your Homicidols Weekender #357

It was one of the more disorienting weeks in recent memory, at least in terms of chika idol news. We had KAQRIYOTERROR rebooting with 18 members and then Not Secured Loose Ends re-emerging with one (and maybe a backing band if the speculation on the Homicidols Discord server proves correct).  Fans of MIGMA SHELTER (which is just about everyone around these parts) were stunned by the surprise graduation announcement of their last remaining original member, but the most ground shaking news by far was word that WACK, after all these years, is finally coming overseas:

Your Homicidols Weekender #356

This was a weird week. I just felt out of sorts all week long which I think was primarily due to the realization that I have no plans on the horizon to see any future idol shows. After spending Labor Day weekend with Tokyo Psychopath at Saboten Con (check out our interview with them if you haven’t already done so), I have entered into a phase of post-idol depression that can probably only be alleviated by making arrangements to go see more idols. So, let’s see our upcoming travel options and try to sketch out some plans!!

We Interview Idols: Tokyo Psychopath

Tokyo Psychopath, the fashion punks who place an emphasis on free expression above all else, are proving to be one of the most iconoclastic and, possibly, important units in underground idol. They stood out upon inception as an idol unit that allowed members to openly smoke, drink, and display the their heavily tattooed selves while pledging to be the “the most crazy punk group.” They soon became a staple of Tokyo street fashion social media and were even featured in Vogue Japan as examples of, “the new generation who are not afraid to be different and continue to pursue their own individuality.” Since then, Tokyo Psychopath have pushed the boundaries of self expression even further, not only through their music and fashion, but also through their personal statements, emerging as one of the very few idol units in Japan with openly LGBTQ+ members.

You see idols: Live report from the Zenbu Kimi no Sei da Budokan show

Zenbu Kimi No Sei Da. may be on hiatus, but that hasn’t stopped Codomomental from working behind the scene in order to immortalize their biggest show to date. If you read last week’s weekender, you’ll see that they recently launched a crowdfunding campaign in order to release a blu-ray of the show, and they reached the goal necessary to carry out the project in less than a week! In order to celebrate, we’re offering you a highly personal account submitted for publication by Richimetal. Because I’m not great at timeliness, the editing process took a while, so I’m glad we have a topical opportunity to bring it to light. Please enjoy!

Your Homicidols Weekender #355

I’m back at the controls of the Weekender after a brief vacation. A big, “Thank you!” to Papermaiden for taking the reins so I could enjoy Saboten Con with Tokyo Psychopath last weekend (look for our interview with the group to drop soon). I can tell you from first-hand experience that their American debut was a ton of fun and a big success.  It was an awesome weekend and I hope they come back soon.

Your Homicidols Weekender #354

It’s been another busy week in Idol, but it’s about to get busier!

This weekender is, once again, put together by trustee procrastinator Papermaiden, because our overlord Daemon is busy doing what he should do, having fun with Tokyo Psychopath this weekend! On that note, if you are at Saboten Con, come meet us (him)! He is giving the Killer Side of Idol panel on Saturday, September 2 at 11:30.
A rare chance to discuss idols in person!
