We have almost hit the halfway point of the Homicidols year (which, remember, starts each December and runs through November for REASONS), so this would be a good time for a quick check of what’s been dominating everyone’s playlists. Both Team Homicidols and the denizens of the Discord server have submitted their nominations for the best Albums, EPs, Singles, MVs, and new groups of 2025 so far. We will kick things off this week with the year’s favorite EPs and Albums.

Now that the last of the cherry blossoms have fallen from the trees and been swept away by the wind, we enter the season of rebirth and renewal. On the idol calendar, that means it’s time to get those reboots and new units up and running before Golden Week hits. In honor of the season, the theme of this weekend’s edition is “old vs. new” as both established acts and debutante’s are boisterously vying for our attention.

It’s a road version of the Weekender as Homicidols is in travel formation for a few more days. This is my first time traveling as a person with a disability, which has been eye-opening. Most things have gone just fine, but I was unable to see Yurapico at the OC Japan Fair as the closest ride-share drop-off point was further away than I could walk and they had no shuttles. That was a big disappointment (and waste of money).
My time in LA was saved by Idol Jam Vol. 1 where I got to see Yurapico alongside Aonyan, BERRY, Phoebe and other very talented kaigai idols. The whole event was fabulous, a ton of fun, and made the whole trip worthwhile. Hopefully, there is a Vol. 2 (and 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.).

I have to rush through putting the Weekender together because I still have to finish packing. The doctor gave me the OK to travel so I’m going to limp myself to the airport and fly off to LA to see Yurapico (and Hanbie and Hitsujibungaku). It should be fine though since it’s been a long time since Homicidols posted four articles in a single week. Sure two of them were total BS and the other one was talking about BS, but it’s all Idol April Fools-related, so I think it counts.
Your Idol April Fools Day 2025 Round Up
Another Idol April Fools Day is in the books, and this year’s was pretty fantastic. I am pretty proud of our own entry. Hopefully, our fake charity will ensure the proliferation of megane idols across the scene.
I must also bear a bit of sad non-news: DENGOKU BREAKOUT is not a real idol unit. Some very talented denizens over on the Homicidols Discord server asked for our assistance in inserting a little vocaloid in your alternative idol. I will let them unmask themselves if they wish.
