DEEP GIRL Just Published a Live Video for Their Title Track

Hot off of hosting DEVIL GUN’s debut (and like everybody else in the same waters), DEEP GIRL went ahead and figured they’d release an updated official video for “DEEP GIRL,” presumably to have a new canon (NOT KANON DAMMIT!) version that takes the actual membership into account.

Admit it, you kind of wish you could be there for it

Friday’s Gif Party Will Make You Sick to Your Stomach

I’m welcoming back Kerrie against my own good sense; if you saw the conversation yesterday about idol fanfic and where that wound up going, you’ll understand. Nonetheless! Remember that you can get unique idol-inspired gear at her Redbubble.

Happy Friday, everyone! Or should I say, unhappy Friday, considering the theme of our last gif party.

That’s right, lets all get comfortable in our wota bunkers and check out the best of last week’s #idolpocalypse!

[Maniac: Joke’s on you all — I was the only person who made anything! So I’m picking my favorites.]

I Love Idol Side Projects

Updating to add: Their PV!

Though without any of the hype of NATASHA, there’s nonetheless a limited side project put together that features a favorite of us — Montero from Screaming Sixties has joined a new group called TAU that … well, it’s hard to say what they look or sound like, but “rock chicks” is probably pretty accurate.

That’s not just because Montero’s involved, btw (she could harbor secret ambitions to be a country singer for all we know, and per Jul in the comments is going to do a DJ set). It makes sense. Continue reading

Do Yourself a Favor and Watch This Haruno Megumi Clip

So after leaving Mugen Regina back in the spring, it was a little bit of a surprise to see that Haruno-san was actually staying musically active; I had figured that her gravure career was going to eat up most of her time. And good! The woman can sing and has a great stage presence; if her musical career can continue, even in a limited sense, that’s good for everybody.

This is not about her music, though. This is some total-idol shit.

Oh yes! Continue reading

What’s up with Yamaguchi Kassei Gakuen?

After having a chance to reference 30POSSE the other day, I got to looking up Yamaguchi’s much more prominent and well-established rock idols. They were at TIF with no real video appearing, and they were at JAM without anything showing up on YouTube. That’s messed up! I know they aren’t up everybody’s alley around here, but they’re legitimately a big deal in their own world (big enough to have their own cover group) and, as that super-long interview that Phillter translated shows, they’re aiming to get even bigger.

I did find this snip from JAM:

My Heart (Pochicon) Breaks a Little, But All Wounds Will Heal

I missed it the other day, but my latest New Favorite Thing in Heart ni Pochicon (as I have been advised to call them) is in a bit of disarray: Fuyu (you may know her by her cigarette and bulldog expression) is heading to the hospital for some R&R.

Ordinarily, as examples like Yasui Yuuhi have taught us, when an idol goes on hiatus for health reasons, it’s often an elegant way of moving them out of the picture until they can be quietly graduated without fuss or muss. Fortunately: Continue reading

STARMARIE’s Releasing “Spell of the HALLOWEEN”

Man, am I ever glad that I got tipped off to STARMARIE. This occult rock / metal unit never fails to make me wish I were spending a chilly October evening in a castle’s library, reading original manuscripts of John Dee’s and seriously wondering if a circle of salt would actually protect me from the otherworldly horrors I could summon according to the instructions therein.

Anyway! STARMARIE has an album hot on the way, and I’d really like to listen to it, potentially on vinyl, as our earlier exploration into darkness-embracing idols has taught us is a good idea.

Here’s the trailer:

And if what we can know of the music so far is this good, it’ll be worth the trouble. Continue reading

You Should Add NECRONOMIDOL Vinyl to Your Collection

Update: Now available!

You may have seen this from NECRONOMIDOL:

Yep! The Dark Girls have re-released their NEMESIS album on vinyl through Specific Recordings. That is, the Specific Recordings that’s based in France. That can swing distribution around Europe and the Americas. That … uh …

Hello, what’s this? Continue reading

Oh Hell Yes, Let’s Get Weird and Enjoy Some Sunfairies

OMG you guys, do you remember the e-sports idols Sunfairies? Maybe! I saw some of their members very Twitter-active suddenly and thought I’d look up the reason and … they have a new song! And it’s good!
