I’m going to keep the preamble short as I’ve got about 1,000 things to do this weekend in preparation for my pending international departure. If all goes to plan, the next time you hear from me I will be reporting live, on location from the Idol Halloween festivities in Japan!

For those of you stuck Stateside, there will be some domestic Idol Halloween celebrations going on, especially around the Los Angeles area:

This weekend , you can catch two days of Kiichigo Fructose, Hatsukoi Eternal, and Morinaga from Taiwan alongside a line-up some of the best kaigai units the US has to offer.

For Halloween weekend, US Idol Fes returns to Redondo Beach with a packed line-up of kaigai idol and v-tubers including the fabulous Phoebe as headliner.

I have been really bad at my job lately and have missed a number of new releases over the past few weeks.

CHEMICAL X dropped a new single, “Activate” the first week of October. They followed that up with a second new single, “HANABI” this week:

Quubi released their last single a couple weeks ago, but it somehow sped right by me.

AQ dressed in such effective camouflage for their new  album cover that I didn’t even see it when it came out. And remember, whenever I miss something in the Weekender, be sure to bring it to my attention by shaming me for my incompetence over on the Homicidols Discord server.

Here’s the second in the series of Udon chan-produced MVs from 9DayzGlitchClubTokyo. She has again picked on of their more moody and atmospheric tracks.

Oshiloss Corner

Yoruno Mayumi of Zero Bansen to Yoake Mae missed a couple of shows due to family circumstances and then suddenly deleted her Twitter account. She has been confirmed safe but, “neither the members nor the staff have a full grasp of the situation.” The group will continue it’s activities as a duo for the time being.

PLANCK STARS shenanigans got some attention for the first time in a while.  Juri Nagisa announced that she was leaving PLANCK STARS because “Plank Stars’ live performance style was simply too crude and disgusting—something she found physically repulsive—and that she had also come to find Plank Stars’ fans equally repulsive. ”  Of course, Juri had only joined the unit temporarily for a couple of shows in Sendai, but the announcement was enough to snag a few headlines.

Miku Funai is taking a hiatus from GEKKAN Pam due to poor health. The goup will continue for the time being as a solo act.

Oshifound Corner

Horror lolita unit LyricHolic Kagekidan has rebranded (again) and added two new members, Taeko and Sakotsu Honemiya. Still delivering a magnetic mix of idolcore and VKei metal, the unit now known as Alice umbra has dropped their first MV under their new moniker.

ki.o.ku, one of the most promising debuts of the year who subsequently imploded, announced their new lineup and released two new singles. As we creep towards the Best of 2026 nomination season, they may be the first unit to snag nods for both Best Debut and Best Reboot.

Meet NØVEL, a newly announced unit set to debut in November. The members are:
