Your Homicidols Weekender #371

It is the final weekend (and Weekender) 2023 and I’m almost sad this year is about to end. It’s not that I have any great affection for the year that has almost passed, it’s just that there were so many great alt, indie, and underground idol units putting out so much amazing material that I probably need another month or too just to catch up with it all. Even though I compile this weekly digest, I know that I have missed some stellar stuff.  That’s why we have the  Homicidols Discord server, so folks can let us all know anything we happed to have overlooked. It takes a village to keep abreast of this genre.

Look What Oshi Got Us for Christmas!!

Since we are all well past the days when Santa pays a visit, and some of us have even reached the stage where receiving a nice pair of wool socks is considered a decent Yuletide haul, it is understandable for expectations regarding Christmas gifts to be markedly low.

Luckily, our idol oshi never forget about us and have delivered in a big way this Christmas. Let’s see all of the presents they left under the tree!!

Your Homicidols Weekender #370

It is your Idol X-Mas 2023 edition of the Weekender!! As Team finishes up school and work and heads off to spend holiday time with family, we are also still tabulating Best of the Year nominations and will get the ballot out as soon as the egg nog wears off.

In the meantime, Isiliel will be spending Christmas in Europe and you can join her for livestreams on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Your Homicidols Weekender #369

As I compose this, all the Twitter links in the below article are currently borked. I hope that straightens out before the post publishes. I’ve been trying to rely less and less on Twitter content since His Holiness, The King of Twitter made it clear he doesn’t want Tweets viewed on any domain he didn’t massively overpay for. Unfortunately, for now, Twitter is still the communication conduit of choice for chika idols,  so we must still rely on it, especially for the Oshiloss and Oshifound Corners. It is probably only a matter of time before tweets stop embedding at all, but we will see how long this all lasts.

In the realm of things we have much more control over:

Your Homicidols Weekender #368

As we hurtle towards idol X-Mas, the second best holiday next to idol Halloween, be sure to take some time out to reflect on the past twelve months and submit your nominations for 2023’s best in alternative, indie, and underground idol by next Friday:

In the meantime, just one week into Homicidols year 2024, we are already being hit with a deluge of new material, debuts, and disbandments. In the past 24 hours alone it seems like a half of everybody dropped a new MV. Not everything made it into the Weekender because it was just too much, but here’s most of the best stuff:

It is Time to Nominate Your Homicidols Best of the Year for 2023

2023 is drawing to a close and, compared to other recent trips around the sun, it was pretty alright. Especially in regards to alternative, underground and indie idol, the topic most dear to the Homicidol heart: the sheer volume of superb material we saw over the past twelve months was simply overwhelming. My Best of 2023 playlist that I’ve been building all year ended up with 143 songs on it, so I’m having a bit of trouble trying to narrow it down to a few favorites. That why is we here on Team Homicidols turn to you all this time each year.

As always, we desperately need your help in identifying the nominees for consideration for Homicidols’ Best of the Year honors.

Your Homicidols Weekender #367

Happy New Homicidols Year! Since we traditionally spend our Decembers working out who gets Best of the Year honors, the Homicidols calendar runs from December to November. That means that anything from yesterday onward (December 1) is considered a 2024 release in our deluded little minds. It does result in some interesting twists. If we think back to January 1, 2023,  LADYBABY alumnus Rei Kuromiya and Rie Kaneko announced the formation of their new unit REIRIE. Not to be outdone, their former unit announced on January 2nd that it was rebooting in partnership with Heroines. Eleven months later, REIRIE is a shoo-in nominee for the Best New Unit of 2023. Meanwhile, the new LADYBABY’s debut yesterday on December 1 means they qualify to compete for the 2024 honor.
