I think our brains could use the little bit of relief, don’t you? Like, you watch all of these graduations and suspensions of activities and whatnot and think, man, idol must be in a terrible tailspin, if only there were something that could add some new life before chika becomes a literal graveyard.
At least it won’t be in 2019 — Q’ulle, who got avexed as hard as anybody ever got avexed and have been drifting off toward solo and personal projects for a good long while, and who had already lost one member, are going to wind things down over the rest of the year and into next summer, when they’ll finally break up. Their unlikely career and long string of high points makes this one a little less sad than some — you want to congratulate them and give them high-fives, rather than rend your garments — but still. I’m pretty much out of groups from original Homicidols left to cover!
I want to share something with you guys. An accidental trip-over-it-and-remember-that-it-exists kind of thing, if you will. And you know, we haven’t shared a whole lot of previously un-posted-about idols this year for a number of reasons, so why not get a few out there before the year is effectively over?
So meet EIMIE (Twitter), who yes are a palindrome but are also a pretty darn solid rock project, and who dropped this energetic live-cut MV a few days ago:
It was just mere days ago we were talking about that wonderful footage of RAY performing live in Taiwan, and we took a moment to also mention that the group will also be releasing their first single/EP, entitled “Blue”. The release has lovely cover art and an extremely impressive roster of collaborators. Now we’ve been blessed with another highly anticipated track on the disk, “Meteor”, featuring an instrumental arrangement by Elliot Frazier of the highly regarded Austin band Ringo Deathstarr!
Oh hey, look! It’s Necronomidol’s CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT MV – shot by… ME! Please enjoy. And thank you, Necroma, for letting me shoot this insane summer tour! https://t.co/LTnQnEigWl@NECRONOMIDOL
[ANNOUNCEMENT] Not the one we’ve planned for 10AM, but we have to also tell you that #MonsterofDolls‘ setlist will endure a change: unfortunately Necronomidol will not be attending MoD2020; for info and updates on the new lineup, please refer to our site: https://t.co/qnNZdBfeASpic.twitter.com/7eMnXynzv8
Wasn’t expecting an announcement regarding #MoD2020 today, but looks like one has been made regardless. We’ll release a statement later on. Just know – NECRONOMIDOL is fiercely loyal to our intn’l fans and expects a high level of professionalism from the events we perform at.
Good morning! Good heavens, what a week that was. I write you today in the pre-dawn hours as I enter the final day of a whirlwind that fortunately brings one phase of one thing to an end and leaves me space for a little while until the next phase begins. And what a week it was! When I checked in yesterday afternoon to try to get some additional items for this here Weekender, it was done under the impression that, well, that I really needed to find some stuff for the Weekender. Little did I know that it would blow up like this!
So enjoy, and relax, and spend some time outside in what’s a beautiful time of transition all over the world except for people in the tropics or the polar regions. Here we get fallen leaves; people in the Upside Down have spring; and it’s all good. And play the Fun while you’re at it, because Halloween is mere days away and you may as well get your nightmares solved early!
Hey, here’s a quick post! You guys all dig on buGG, the PIIIIIIIN and Queens little sister group that’s fun as hell, right? Of course you do! So as luck would have it, they had their first anniversary the other day, and to commemorate released a new song:
It’s the last weekend before Halloween, everyone! So, you know what that means! It’s time for our (sometimes) annual #IdolNightmares hashtag! What does that mean? Well, it’s all down to your interpretation! Continue reading →
Man, a lot of stuff’s happening today. But you know what? Not a single bit of it can compete with the idiotic grin on my face every time I give this not-new one from SPARK SPEAKER another spin (approaching its dozenth play in the last couple of hours!). Are you feeling up? Listen to it! Are you feeling down? Friend, listen to it like three or four times in a row! Will you want to conquer the entire galaxy after that? Possibly! Will you feel like you can? Almost certainly!
Take it away, punk rock idols who I always wish we could post about more!
What a whirlwind. I thought we were going to do a little bit more of that patented easycore+idol thing that SPARK SPEAKER’s pulled off so well a few times, and I wasn’t completely wrong to think that (those verses!), but if I’d ever thought that they had some Armor Girls-esque moves in them, I wouldn’t have admitted it. And that chorus, of course, that’s pure punk singalong anthem.
And yeah, you know what? Life is beautiful, gang. Life is beautiful as hell. It’s sometimes beautiful in weird ways — for instance, idols — but there’s almost always something worthy of pure, obnoxious celebration right in front of us, and I’m all for embracing it, especially given that recent rough patch. I’m nominating this for Song of the Year just on the strength that we should all get to have this kind of mood as often as possible.
