They May Want to Keep Doing This

Forgive the brevity, friends, as I peel myself off of the remnants of the holiday weekend and glance with eminent side-eye at anything approaching an obligation, but I flagged this in passing yesterday specifically because I thought that you needed it as much as I needed (to follow up on) it. So what is it? Oh, no big deal, just a solo/duo spot by Kolokol members Akiho and Konomi in honor of their birthday live tomorrow:

That’s not really what I’d expect from Kolokol, which is fitting because it’s not from Kolokol and is instead a distinct thing that just so happens to be associated with Kolokol, who hey by the way also should do more things because everything they do is good, even things like this that aren’t actually Kolokol! But for real, it’s a cool song, neat moves, and the girls sound good. I’m jealous; the last time that I was invited to do a song for my birthday, I had two too many soju bombs and forgot what I was doing in the middle of “Silent Lucidity.”

233 Ways To Marz – It’s Fumimi’s Birthday!

The storm clouds settled, bringing a sense of spring to the fair isle of Honshu. The salarymen, as is their wont, who wend their way to work whilst watching wacky comedy shows on their portable telecommunications devices, went away. In their stead, the legions of undead sheep that comprise the vast majority in Japan decided to overcrowd the trains because of some flower blooming. You can’t even get stoned from it, so I don’t see the appeal.

On such a day, Hoshina Fumimi’s birthday one-man live was being held. In Marz. My least favourite venue on Earth. Continue reading

Hey Sure, Let’s Celebrate NEVE SLIDE DOWN’s Birthday with Them

Did you guys know that PassCode’s sisters in NEVE SLIDE DOWN had their debut a year ago yesterday? I sure as hell didn’t, because their first videos didn’t drop until September IIRC, but I’m also not mad about it, what with that whole sure-let’s-look-at-NEVE-SLIDE-DOWN thing.

Anyway, the news, and the trailer doodad:

This Is How You Do a Birthday Celebration

Quick note on this post: I love when you guys tell me about stuff! Sometimes it’s a bit of news, or sometimes it’s a performance to share; whatever it is, if it’s cool and good, I’m going to want to amplify it so more people can see more idol stuff.

Take for example Hoshina Fumimi, a member of Daichi’s A-minor crew and the kind of solo idol that I can personally really get behind — she’s doing it for the love, and she’s doing it because she’s good, and people should support that.

Pukovnik Krv is probably as big a fan as anybody in the West of Daichi’s merry band of misfits, and you know that he contributes a lot of material and insights around Guso Drop and family. In this case, it’s Fumimi’s birthday live, which has some story to it.

Part 1!

I Am the Spirit of Homicidols.com: Happy Stupid Birthday to Me

Well, amigos, it actually happened: It’s the first birthday of Homicidols.com, and … I’m honestly kind of stumped on what to do about that. Despite not having any particular religious or cultural opposition to it, I’m not really much of one for celebrating Maniac Day, so all I know of birthdays stops at the age of 21, i.e., the time I decided to celebrate with friends and got so drunk that I fought a bathroom and was still hungover three days later.

Anyway, Garry and I managed to launch our sites at approximately the same time, and we were talking about the upcoming milestone and he’s doing a thing that’s going to be pretty cool, so I thought, hell, why not. In other words, indulge me a bit of navel-gazing; it’s the least you jamokes can do. Continue reading

Pikarin Knows How to Celebrate a Birthday

Hikari Shiina, the belovedly infamous Pikarin, celebrated either her 22nd or 22,000th birthday this past week, depending on which account of her life you believe, and of course had to do it all Pikarin-y. All stuff originally derived via Patrick on the Facebook group.

For the Next 23 Hours, Watch the 24-hour BiSH Party

UPDATE: Some brave soul has uploaded every minute of BiSH 24 to YouTube. Enjoy the latter hours at your own peril.

Because what better way to celebrate your birthday than to cant-stop-wont-stop your way through an endurance event?

Granted, you need a Nicovideo account to watch, but a true BiSH fan stops at nothing to watch their favorite idols’ latest gimmick!
