MELON BATAKE A GO GO have just announced that two new members will be joining the lineup. Kotomi Kuzuki and Usako Minano of sister unit The Grateful a MogAAAz will be joining the psychobilly sidekick heroes on a rotating basis.

Kotomi Kuzuki and Usako Minano
The announcement came at MELON BAT’s “SICK×IDOLS×SICK -neo Generation-” one-man live, the group’s first following the departure of Ami no Koromi. Ami and her long, blonde locks graduated at her birthday live on August 6th, shortly after featuring as center in one final MV promoting the unit’s new mini album.
THE IDOL FROM OUTERSPACE simultaneously released the self-titled mini-album across all known universes in early July. I’m not sure how it did elsewhere, but it was good enough to crack the Oricon Top Ten on this planet.
This flurry of activity comes less than a month before MELON BATAKE A GO GO’s US debut at Saboten Con this upcoming Labor Day weekend. The new member rotation, of course, begs the question: if Kotomi and Usako will be alternating appearances with the group, which lineup will be hitting the stage in Phoenix next month?
Version Usako?
Or the Kotomi Edition?
In all honesty, either or both will be fantastic. Friends of Homicidols, Chaotic Harmony, who are organizing the group’s Saboten Con appearance, won’t say just yet who the lineup will be (UPDATE: It’s Usako!). What they have mentioned is that tickets to their special VIP event with MELON BAT will be going on sale soon via their website. CHI’s VIP events at Saboten Con are always something special so keep a close eye out for that.
See you in Phoenix!
