So GANG PARADE released the MV for their new single the other day, and it’s a nice song and all, but — likely due to the fact that it’s a theme song — kind of tame by the group’s recent-ish standards. Perhaps in the vernacular of today’s youth: It doesn’t so much slay as lightly buffet. A little disappointing!
Of course, as we know ’round these parts, the B side is the best side, and the companion track from the single is unexpectedly exactly what I needed not just from this record, but from like all of idol in the past several months:
And now back to our regularly scheduled programming! The piece that I’d have preferred to kick off the day is a simple one, folks, in that Malcolm Mask McLaren*, inarguable queens of idol easycore**, really want you to buy their new single and, in addition to last week’s MV for the title track, also want you to hear the B-side:
You know what I say: The B-side is the best side. This is a tremendous example. My goodness, if that breakdown were written in a proper key, entire species might go extinct. Faces would melt. Yellowstone would erupt and make Kilauea look like Old Faithful.
*I’ll spare you the alliteration today **Not that I’m asking for it, but I think it’d be a good move for more idols to try out this sound
I think all of us were pleased that the lovable ex-bears of ayumikurikamaki made a bit of a return to form for their “Goma slipper” single, from the sound to the fun attitude of the video. The release itself happened last Wednesday, but they put out this additional MV for the B-side, and yes, ayukuma, thank you:
