The super-idol-unit APOKALIPPPS is dealing with the trials of Covid 19 just like the rest of us, trying to stay healthy and safe by staying home as much as possible, and maintaining social distancing to help turn the tide of the pandemic away so we can get back to our normal lives of eating, sleeping, working, (or studying) and supporting idols. It hasn’t been terribly easy for many of us, and it’s pretty tough for the idol industry too of course. The needs required to get through this crisis contradict their inherent business model!

So to help fans remember that they’re still here for us, and to also cheer up our anxiety-ridden spirits, these most delightful riders of the APOKALIPPPS put together an MV from the safety of their own homes…

“Let’s Cooking!” Here they are in their individual dwellings, each singing along to “世界中をしあわせにする方法 (How To Make The World Happy)“, and also making some delicious pancakes. Marvel at the variety of prep, cooking, and presentation techniques on display here… (Umm, actually it looks like Nishii Marina kinda cheated and bought some!) Fruit on top? Maybe chocolate? A pat of butter with syrup? All I know is that if idols are making the pancakes, then I’m suddenly interested to know more about how they do it…

The song itself comes from last year’s EP “APOKALIPPPS ONGEN”, which we wrote a little review of at the time. It’s a bubbly pop number that gives you good vibes. It’s readily available on all the streaming platforms and digital sales sites, so check it out if you haven’t yet!

 

At this point, it seems like “Corona Lockdown” videos are pretty much an MV theme staple in and of themselves, and while I do enjoy them, I’m looking forward to a return of seeing idols onstage, interacting with their fans the way the idol gods intended them. When will that happen again? Hopefully before the year is over, we’ll see. In the meantime, we’ll just need to count our blessings that idols are still doing what they can to put smiles on our faces and a positive feeling in our hearts.
