We Finally Got the the mishmash EP!

I will tell you, I noticed on the TL the other day that the mishmash had a release date for a new EP, and I got super excited about it, and only in the mental preparation for this post did I come to see that the record’s title and title track itself (and #2!) have been with us for months via MV, and so there would be no MV associated with this release, and so I was going to be a jerk about it and not post, but then I actually listened to it all and while I remember not really caring for the title track, I did find that the overall spirit of the release (and okay, the rest of the songs) was actually nice and fun, and I’m in a mood, so let’s do it!

I don’t expect you all to like this the way that I expect you all to like, say, something from PassCode or whatever, but I do expect some of you to like it, and you know who you are, because you’ve been bopping ever since you hit play. Me, it’s not my favorite thing that mishmash (+/- the) ever did, and frankly I preferred their closer-to-OG sound, but groups get refreshes all the time and maybe now was that time for the mishmashes. And who knows? Maybe there’s room for greaser idols out there, too.

Ah, the mishmash, one of my two or three favorite groups that basically just performs all the time and never releases anything, thereby leaving me to drift hopelessly through a directionless life with neither succor nor support. I wish they did more stuff! It’s hard to stay mad at them, though, because they rub shoulders with excellent company and I think are largely satisfied with being their best selves in a milieu that appreciates them. But anyway! There’s music, and you can get it. Thanks for a retweet campaign involving one of those demos that I’m always kvetching about, they have a full song to listen to, and then to download for free, and hey look get to it:

Hurry Up and Download This New One from the mishmash

We never get enough new stuff from the mishmash, gang, and that makes me sad. The little rockers remain one of my favorite semi-recent debutantes, but it feels like forever since we got a whole complete new track out of them, or at least one that we, thousands of miles from chika stages, can really and fully access. So what a gift then that they came along the other day with a completely new song that you can and should download for free right this very minute!

The mishmash! I was practically giddy when this showed up in the ol’ video queue. Despite not getting nearly as much love from other quarters as I wish they had, the mishmash (formerly just “mishmash”) were among my personal favorite debutantes from last year, with a kind of maturity and understated comfort zone that just doesn’t exist much in a field dominated by try-hard teenagers.

In not even three quarters of a year since their debut in the springtime, the mishmash has had a pretty good rise, and it’s culminating in their first album, due on the 13th. And with albums come what? Videos! Here you go:
