You’re Never Too Cool for Idols with Pandas on Their Heads

It was Panda Day about a month ago (as somebody never fails to remind me), and I just so happen to live within an easy drive’s distance of the National Zoo (which has pandas), and I used to have a friend who was known as Panda, and I definitely have several plush pandas in various places around Maniac Manor … all of which is to say that there’s a confluence of things to indicate that I must be really into big, lumbering, kind of dumb endangered mammals that live in a friggin’ rain forest and still haven’t figured out how to eat food that’s actually nutritious or breed more than once an Olympiad.

They’re cute, though, which is why people like them, and it’s especially why idols like them, because idols are often nothing if not eminently predictable and also susceptible to all things adorbs. So it makes sense, right, that idols who sort of pride their own game on being kawaii would embrace the crap out of pandas.

I dare you to watch that without smiling like an idiot at least once

That’s Attain Music (remember them?), purveyors of kawaii rock and former home of one Peri Ubu.

As for the substance of the video, I remain baffled by a lot of what happens on an idol stage. Like, is there a reason for that gigantic panda? Are they periodically performing a skit or something? Where is this, and why it is being filmed at such a strange angle? Are there humans in attendance at this event?

All of that aside, Attain Music is in fact a pretty good time, and their boldness in going with the @kawaiirockidol Twitter handle deserves to be rewarded with follows.
