Idol summer rolls on and we have a dearth of summer MVs to share this week. Since our focus here is on the alternative side of idol, there’s not a swimsuit to be found among them, but a couple feature visits to the beach.
Also, for what I believe is the first time in 504 Weekenders, we have no Oshiloss to report. If I had an unpaid intern, I would have them go through the last 503 editions to double check but, if I recall correctly, we almost had an oshiloss-free week one other time and it was spoiled by word of a last minute graduation. In other news, we are currently recruiting for an unpaid intern. Please apply by DMing me over on the Homicidols Discord server.

Last Sunday morning, we were blessed with an abundance of RAY. First, we got this live MV for “When We Dream” to the Blu-Ray of their #MOD_GROOVE one-man show.
RAY also dropped this increasingly odd single that is equal parts folk rock, trance, and idol introduction song.
Summer MV season is in full swing!! And everyone does summer MVs differently:
YOLOZ threw a staycation and forgot to bring their swimsuits. I assume the conversation on set went something like this:
Manager-san: We’re going to shoot the pool scene. Where are your swimsuits?
YOLOZ (In unison): We forgot them.
Manager-san: All of you?
YOLOZ: YES
Manager-san: How could that…
ichi: (low growl….)
Manager-san: Okay! Nevermind…

Oshiloss Corner
The grim reaper of the idol world took a vacation this week and we have an extraordinarily rare respite from any oshiloss. It may be a first. Let’s enjoy it while we can.
Oshifound Corner
When Akatsuki went back to being Antithese, the only member who survived the transition was Niina Mako (who also happens to be the group’s producer). The other four final members of Akatsuki, YURA, RINO, AIKU, and KIRI, have re-emerged in a unit all of their own: meet ACEQUAD. They debut on August 1st.
The reboot of Melancholic Cinderella Story released their first single and it is unsurprisingly excellent.
