Your Homicidols Weekender #367

Happy New Homicidols Year! Since we traditionally spend our Decembers working out who gets Best of the Year honors, the Homicidols calendar runs from December to November. That means that anything from yesterday onward (December 1) is considered a 2024 release in our deluded little minds. It does result in some interesting twists. If we think back to January 1, 2023,  LADYBABY alumnus Rei Kuromiya and Rie Kaneko announced the formation of their new unit REIRIE. Not to be outdone, their former unit announced on January 2nd that it was rebooting in partnership with Heroines. Eleven months later, REIRIE is a shoo-in nominee for the Best New Unit of 2023. Meanwhile, the new LADYBABY’s debut yesterday on December 1 means they qualify to compete for the 2024 honor.

Speaking of debuts, You’ll Melt More makes their western debut today in Italy at Monster of Dolls, performing with ERISU and our eternal Queen, SARI.

For those of us who aren’t lucky enough to be in Bologna enjoying MoD, we can spend our day reviewing the final entries eligible for consideration for Homicidols Best of the Year, 2023. Stay tuned over the next week for instructions on how to submit your nominations.

JIEMEI’s 2023 included a fantastic album, an awesome tour, and they close out the year with a solid single and MV.

At this point, we may need an entire category just for “Best RAY PV.”

YUKKYUN christened his latest single and MV, “The Best of the Year,” so that’s two categories sorted.

Minna no Kodomochan has released their final single ever. Appropriately, it is a re-recording of their very first song, “I Wish I Was Dead When I Wake Up.”

DEATHNYANN is always a winner.

Here’s an entry from PLANCK STARS subunit, ANARUNUSHI, made up of Ainaru Rairai and Nushi Koharu.

Kenta Matsukuma (SCRAMBLES) has been officially appointed as the Sound Producer for O-key. To celebrate, all three current O-key units, POPPiNG EMO, NOW DRAMATiC, and SUPER REPLiCA, dropped a digital single.

If you were ever curious about the lyrics to MELON BATAKE A GO GO’s “SICK IDOLS”, here’s a subtitled version from IDOL NEVER DiES as performed by all-star unit, BLOOD CHERRY.

One of the best names in idol: DINKY JUNK.

REIRIE released their new song, “UNDER MY HEAVEN,” just under the wire for BEST of the Year consideration.

Planet After the Rain need some consideration. They are seriously underrated.

Perennial favorite, usabeni, gives us a refreshing new tune.

RYUTist go acoustic.

Another former member of MoeMoe Destruction, Hirari Amane has joined gothic rock unit called Akumade Tenshi.
