Greetings from Japan again. I’m about two-thirds of the the way through my return to the birthplace of the genre we love and still sprinting through idol lives. In the past week, I have managed to see MANACLE, KAQRIYOTERROR, Zenbu Kimi no Sei da., Akugi, Seireki13ya, TOKYO Tefutefu, INUWASI, NEO JAPONISM, AMEFURASSHI, THE ORCHESTRA TOKYO, Title Mitei, KING SARI, C;ON, #2i2, POPPiNG EMO, NOW DRAMATiC, SUPER REPLiCA, YUKiRU, The Candace, Qppo, NELN and many, many more. My feet are killing me, but I’m having a great time.

I also bumped into EMPATHY in the streets outside of Shibuya Station. I love being in a place where you can just run into idols in the wild.

While idol lives have been going non-stop this first week of the 2023, new releases have slowed during this holiday time. There were still a few new item drops, but the big trend this week was the release of PVs of existing works over MVs of new material. Still, be sure to stick around for the Oshifound Corner where we have our first major surprises of the year with the announcement of, not one, but TWO new LADYBABY-adjacent projects.

I also need to apologize for us being unconscionably late with the Best of 2022 voting. Look for it early next week!

In other overseas happenings, END OF IDOL, one of the units we’ve been watching in Vietnam, released another PV from their debut live.

Hiroshima punks Circle Crusher dropped a new EP.

Since we’re in Hiroshima, meet the new magical girl group, LoLo Kill!, the latest unit from Yabacube (home of PLANCKSTARS).

South Korea’s X!DENT has signed with a Japanese agency and will begin activities in Japan.

QUEENS dropped a trio of PVs from their recent one-man at O-EAST.

Coincidentally, so did PIGGS.

Not to be outdone, ASP dropped a PV of their own.

After all the chaos WACK recently put them through, I’m pretty sure the members of MAMESHiBATAiGUN would rather have named this single, “Just Leave Us Be.”

Poetreep have cool name, a gorgeous sound, and they’re supporting swancry next month, so watch their new MV a lot.

Oshiloss Corner

Okaki graduated from MANACLE. She says she will rest for awhile before deciding what she will do next.

Woven’s is ending activities under the current system.

FAREWELL, MY L.u.v has said, “Farewell!” again.

9DayzGlitchClubTokyo are suspending activities on January 27th but, they say, just for a little bit.

Myao-chan graduated from Circle Crusher.

On decided not to wait until Anon Clara disbands in February and has left the group. 

Una Masuzaki has left Caress Van End due to contract breach.

Oshifound Corner

At the strike of midnight on January 1st, 2023, Rei and Rie (former founding members of LADYBABY) announced that they have reunited for a new project. 

Not to be outdone, LADYBABY then announced that they will be teaming up with Heroines for their own 2023 project.

ROA (ex BURST GIRL) has a new unit called PPPR!! which stands for Peaky★Pop★Panic★Rock★
