Up Up Girls Are Recruiting Wrestlers Because Deadlift Lolita Can’t Be the Only Idols Who Can Cause Concussions

I was thinking about what would be right for Tuesday WTF; this is perfect

What, you thought there was only room for one wrestling-themed idol unit?

It rarely feels like a week ago that the original buff idols, Up Up Girls (Kari), added new members. Probably because so far they’ve just been designated to back-up dancer and Showroom personality roles, but with the impending double-graduation of Minami and Ayano, five new girls just isn’t enough, it seems? Or maybe Up Up Girls 2 just aren’t matching up to their notably muscular seniors, because this time they’re teaming up with Japan’s DDT Wrestling Promotion and specifically looking for pro-wrestlers to join.

A video of the press-conference announcement right here:

In Sekine Azusa’s own words, they want “Kouhai’s who are stronger than UUG members.”

Like how the new Up Up Girls members are known as Up Up Girls (Second), this third batch of buff buddies are to be known as “Up Up Girls (Pro-Wrestler).”

This isn’t the first time Up Up Girls have dabbled in some pro wrestling. Collaborations between them and the DDT are about as common as self-published Tentenko albums.

Perhaps there’s a darker meaning behind all this; tired of getting their asses beat, they’re hiring some poor soul to do all their violent dirty work for them! Up Up Girls, you scoundrels!

When are DDT going to form an official Idol Wrestling League already! I want to see who out of UUG and Deadlift can beat Pour Lui to the ground.

  1. I don’t know about all that, but I hope it leads to the girls from Tokyo Joshi Pro getting more attention.

  2. Technically AKB48 have a pretty big stable of trained wrestlers ’cause they did it for a drama. I only rate, like, three or four of them as fighters though.
