I have been having a harder time than anticipated processing the disbandment of Yukueshirezutsurezure on January 2nd. I had previously survived the graduation of Shidare and, just over a year ago when Komachi, the final remaining original member (and my long-time kami-oshi), disappeared for over a month without a word, I assumed that she was nearing retirement herself. So, almost a year ago, I had begun emotional preparations for this prospective eventuality. Apparently I was not as effective as I thought.
This is primarily due to when, half-way through 2020, Tsurezure released Paradox Soar, their freshest and most progressive album in years. On it, they explored new musical genres and, I thought, had well positioned themselves for a post-Komachi Tsurezure under the extraordinarily capable leadership of Mei Yui Mei. That album, on my short list for Best of the Year, buoyed my expectations for the group. These mislaid hopes meant that, when the imminent dissolution of the group was announced at the end of November, the crash of disappointment was from a much more traumatic height. Continue reading
If somebody ever told you that Christmas is about togetherness and family, they lied to you and you should stop talking to them. Christmas is about gifts, sometimes expected, sometimes unexpected. The culmination of the PARADISES audition gave us the expected Christmas EP featuring some of the WAgg girls and also the unexpected results:
1. Utauuta will be promoted to PARADISES
2. Tsukino Usagi will join trainee group WAgg for 6 months
3. Yuina Empire, formerly of EMPiRE, BiS2nd, BiS and CARRY LOOSE, will join WAgg
We ain’t got no words for this right now.
We’re Crying Loudly over here because those indie emo kids from WACK have finally fulfilled their promise to disband on Halloween, but not before leaving us with a final single and music video. Let’s color ourselves with COLORS.
It’s that time again where the hearts of hundreds around the globe are shattered by the whims of fate – CARRY LOOSE will disband on Halloween and have stopped their livestream project effective immediately.
BREAKING NEWS: Across the nation of Japan and around the entire world, people are coming down with terminal cases of “not being able to mind their business”.
Seiko Oomori’s child support tax fraud ring of an idol group is at it again!
My apologies for the lateness of this article, but I am still picking up the pieces of my shattered mind.
There was nothing to prepare us back in March when Rei, Michelle and Okaki, the last remaining original member of NECRONOMIDOL, announced their departure from the group. Just as there was nothing to prepare us for the blight that has since afflicted the entire world, driving us into our homes, delaying the three members’ graduation show and, meanwhile, wholly transforming the way idol lives are both performed and delivered.
This past Saturday night, Rei Imaizumi, Kakizaki Rizaki and Michelle were finally able to hold their long-delayed graduation live to both an in-person and streaming audience.
After their first and last oneman live, their last ever performance with every song and a small cafe talk event, Hamidasystem finally closed in on itself for the second and final time.
The reason for the group disbanding might seem unclear because the official statement consisted of mostly “Hamidasystem will cease activities at the end of March and the manager will leave the company office”, but to those who’ve followed the group since 2016 the reason is crystal clear.
When an idol group dissolves and reforms with an entirely new set of members most of the fans don’t stay. Sure, you might get a few people who stick around because they like the music but when the girls leave so do the fans. Fans of OG Hamidasystem are now fans of Crossnoesis, the group comprised of the old members.
So, what do you do when you can’t fill those gigantic shoes? For an indie group, the shadow is cast not only on their popularity but their pockets too. If you can’t break even then what’s the point? Even with the old songs, the new songs, the promotion, and the ex-MIGMA SHELTER member, the numbers just weren’t adding up.
But honestly? Who cares. Continue reading
NECRONOMIDOL have announced the immediate graduation of Rei Imaizumi, Michelle and original member Risaki Kakizaki. In addition, they have cancelled all events for the next two months including their upcoming one-man on March 23 where they were to introduce new members and costumes. The group will be on hiatus until further notice.
The word itself from Manager-san.
Okaki, Rei and Michelle will be independently hosting their own graduation live on April 27th. Continue reading
