I usually kind of skip over Alice Project stuff that’s in my Facebook feed — no offense to the members, but a whole bunch of photos aren’t do all that much for me. Music, on the other hand, now we’re talking, and we’ve been wanting on the Kamen Joshi front even after their single release and MV because, sales aside, the song didn’t seem to work for too many people outside of their target audience.
This, though, this is pretty neat:
Last week, Kamen Joshi released their much(?)-anticipated single “Personia/ISUMI,” with a very clear goal of matching the success of 2015’s “Genkidane”: Reaching the weekly #1.

The story is actually fairly clear if you use Google’s translator, so give it a go, but the important thing is this: Sakura Yuki, the Snow-chan of Kamen Joshi and Joanna Lumley fame, was recently the subject of death threats by an obviously deranged wota. The person has been arrested, and Yuki is safe, and that’s what matters, though there’s more in the details if you care to read.

I was originally going to show off this bonkers-ass video of Kamen Joshi at ROBOT RESTAURANT that’s been making the rounds over the last few days, and in fact am using the exact same piece of HTML to completely change the script, because this is a much more interesting story.
Our friend Pukovnik Krv tipped me off last night that Twitter had suspended the accounts of pretty much every member of Kamen Joshi due to (tell me if this sounds familiar) “botspamming, botfollows and SEO hacking.”
Basically, according to Twitter, the tens of thousands of followers (and the almost automatic follow-backs in many cases) were nothing but a lie and in contravention of the terms of use. As of the minute that I’m pressing the Publish button, searching Twitter for Tachibana Anna or Kamiya Erina or Tsukino Moa or any other notable turns up nothing but mentions, no accounts. Once again, the Mask Girls become ambassadors for idol culture by drawing in a Western eye. Joanna Lumley, star of many things but people away from the Beeb’s orbit probably know best from AbFab, has a new BBC series on Japan, and for this episode did a stop-in at PARMS, where she (seems to have) enjoyed a night of Kamen Joshi and talking with performer and fan alike.
