Here’s a Cool Fan Review of Kamen Joshi’s Latest Single

Or, more specifically, the receipt and unboxing (so to speak) of “Personia / ISUMI,” which just barely failed to make #1 for the Mask Girls’ second consecutive chart-topper, but is still pretty good.

This is from Indonesian fan of the site Rino:

Anybody Feel Like a Gaijin-aimed Kamen Joshi Video?

This is kind of a trip:

In addition to the video, I want you to notice something else, too (at least, if you dig the Mask) — @KamenGaijin is an English-language account that provides various news and translations and stuff from the Alice Project; basically, that’s where you should start if you want to follow but don’t have your Japanese ready yet. Idols Got Talent: Check out This Kamen Joshi Accompanied by Kamen Joshi

I usually kind of skip over Alice Project stuff that’s in my Facebook feed — no offense to the members, but a whole bunch of photos aren’t do all that much for me. Music, on the other hand, now we’re talking, and we’ve been wanting on the Kamen Joshi front even after their single release and MV because, sales aside, the song didn’t seem to work for too many people outside of their target audience.

This, though, this is pretty neat:

Did the Mask Girls Manage to Make #1 Again?

Last week, Kamen Joshi released their much(?)-anticipated single “Personia/ISUMI,” with a very clear goal of matching the success of 2015’s “Genkidane”: Reaching the weekly #1.

Here’s the short version of the MV; why it’s short, not even our friend Char T Saki understands.

Immediately upon release, though, the push for #1 began in earnest:

They made it to #1 in the daily rank, but did they make it there for the week? Continue reading

Come Get an Early Listen to Kamen Joshi’s New Single

Even though we had fair warning a while back, I’ll admit to damn near forgetting that this release was coming. Leave it to Corenament MVP Char T Saki to have eyes on the ball:

So that’s what they’ve been doing with all the stuff that Armor Girls should be doing!

The Rules Aren’t the Problem; The Fans Are

Update, the official statements:

Original:

I had to readdress this point a few times because I couldn’t think of a way to write about this without being guaranteed to piss off at least a few people, though I think I managed to settle into minimum offense.

First, the particulars:

The story is actually fairly clear if you use Google’s translator, so give it a go, but the important thing is this: Sakura Yuki, the Snow-chan of Kamen Joshi and Joanna Lumley fame, was recently the subject of death threats by an obviously deranged wota. The person has been arrested, and Yuki is safe, and that’s what matters, though there’s more in the details if you care to read.

Aside from the obvious concern for the well-being of a well-known personality, there’s a lot to take away from this story. Continue reading

Twitter Threw a Gosh-darn Hammer at the Alice Project

And they’re back! A couple of days in the cooler and no harm done. Does anybody know if the notables had to sacrifice followers or anything? Nope, gone again.

I was originally going to show off this bonkers-ass video of Kamen Joshi at ROBOT RESTAURANT that’s been making the rounds over the last few days, and in fact am using the exact same piece of HTML to completely change the script, because this is a much more interesting story.

Our friend Pukovnik Krv tipped me off last night that Twitter had suspended the accounts of pretty much every member of Kamen Joshi due to (tell me if this sounds familiar) “botspamming, botfollows and SEO hacking.”

Basically, according to Twitter, the tens of thousands of followers (and the almost automatic follow-backs in many cases) were nothing but a lie and in contravention of the terms of use. As of the minute that I’m pressing the Publish button, searching Twitter for Tachibana Anna or Kamiya Erina or Tsukino Moa or any other notable turns up nothing but mentions, no accounts. Can Kamen Joshi Do It Again?

First picked up here, and it’s official — the Mask Girls are releasing another single:

Absolutely Fabulous: Joanna Lumley Takes in Kamen Joshi

Once again, the Mask Girls become ambassadors for idol culture by drawing in a Western eye. Joanna Lumley, star of many things but people away from the Beeb’s orbit probably know best from AbFab, has a new BBC series on Japan, and for this episode did a stop-in at PARMS, where she (seems to have) enjoyed a night of Kamen Joshi and talking with performer and fan alike.

There’s some weird picture-in-picture situation with this video, but it’s the only freely available version that I could find after hearing about the show the other day; if you have something that can embed cleanly, please holler.
