This Friday Fun Is Also A Project For The Idol Fan Creative Community…

Happy Friday!!! I’m filling in for Kerrie this week, and I know I’m not nearly as much fun, but it is indeed Friday so at least I’ve got that much going for me!

So last week the theme was #BadIdolAwards, and with ground that fertile, there were some pretty darn funny responses…

Now for this week, we’re actually looking at something that goes beyond Friday for some fun, and hopefully continues well past the next week. This is an idea we’ve kicked around for probably close to a year now, and I think it’s time we got it rolling…

One of the the things I love about the idol fan community is that not only are you fans devoted, but you’re also wonderfully creative people. And one of my personal favorite activities of the idol fan community is the FAN ART!! Man, I love, love, love fan art. I think it’s a perfect example of how idols inspire us and motive our own positive energy…

So the Friday Fun is simply to show us your fan art! And I mean this for everyone, regardless of ability or whether or not you think it’s “good enough” to share. I’m telling you right now, we think it’s good enough to share, so don’t feel self-conscious about your work. Even just making a scribble on a napkin inspired by your favorite song is a valid expression, so let’s see it!

The hashtag we’re going with is a simple one: #idoldoodles , but wait, there’s more! For one thing, it’s not just drawings, it’s any type of fan art you can dream of: Paper mâché  sculptures, digital works, macaroni art, you get the idea…

But what we really want to do is take this hashtag and keep it going as a nexus of sorts for encouraging fan art amongst the fan community celebrating the artists we love most. The plan is to regularly run a feature on Homicidols where we choose a few of our favorite pieces using the tag and highlight them on the blog. Basically we’ll be doing a fan art round-up to help nurture the creative energy of idol fans and help them spread their work. I’ll hopefully do the first edition of “Idol Doodles” sometime in September.

We encourage you join in, and not just for the weekend, but in the future as well. Let’s add a fabulous new pillar to the halls of fandom!
