The New Zenbu Kimi no Sei Da MV Is Beautiful

We already knew what “Sophomore Sick Sacrifice” sounded like, but this is still like a revelation:

My goodness, why would you arm them?

I’ll be honest, I had mixed feelings about the updated Zenkimi after that whole business last year, even after hearing the song. I honestly wish it were longer, and more of whatever story they’re telling with this rooftop dance party and gas masks and lightsabers and all. But this feels like a very nice retrospective on the Zenbu Kimi no Sei Da that I fell in love with, somewhat reminiscent of the overall aesthetic from … the one that I can never spell, that goes “When You When You Want” in English, but much more light-hearted and, dare I say it, kind of triumphant.

Or maybe I’m just in a good mood, and everybody else hates it and I’ll be that dude with his thumb in his butt wondering why nobody wants to hang out.

Anyway, good on you, Zenkimi. You’ve got the year off to a good start.

  1. How common is it for a new girl to join an idol unit and use the same “member color” as a former member? It seems kinda ice cold but I guess there are fewer colors to pick from than, say, 99 numbers for a hockey jersey…
Anyway, I’m feeling the new song!

For the same reason you arm a group like BiSH, for the pretty colours at night. ^_^

I do need to hear the song some more though.

  3. This is probably my favourite Zenkimi song and MV so far. It doesn’t sound like anything they’ve done before, yet, it is a song only Zenkimi could have done.

  4. This song really reminds me of something off of those Victory Records sampler CDs throughout 2000-2010ish. You couldn’t avoid them. Even if you never bought a CD, there would be people standing outside of concert venues handing them out.

I’m going to say this might be my favorite Zenbu song.
