Never Gonna Give You Up Up, Always Gonna Let You Down Down

Sorry, I already used “Up Up And Away” a few years back. (Thank you Maniac for this alternative headline!)

Do you remember last month, when Up Up Girls (Kari) were being awfully shady about the future of the group, promoting a “final live with the current line-up” and all that? Generally making everyone panic with the idol equivalent of vaguetweeting?

Don’t worry, that new line-up was just new members. Okay, cool. A bit odd to be adding new girls after a decade without any additions but I won’t complain…

Oh wait, never mind, they were just saving the bad stuff as a surprise for later. Everyone except Azusa are out of the group!

God damn it.

Lots of Change Is Afoot for the Various Up Up Girls

I take no credit for this — Kerrie brought it up in chat and I just stuck it into the queue so as to have pieces in one place, to which Kerrie responded “OH GREAT YOU DO IT” and thus does one the least well-versed-when-it-comes-Up-Up-Girls-at-least people is the bearer of what is almost assuredly some degree of bad news, but these things do always depend on perspective.

So! Yesterday, Up Up Girls announced that, following a big-ass outdoor live on the 26th, the old regime will be no more and a new regime will rise.

Up Up Girls Wrestling Is Completely a Thing, and Awesome

Hey, remember when Up Up Girls added a pro-wrestling division? Then I quietly stopped reporting on them because damn, it’s hard to keep track of all these Up Up Girls now?

Well, Pro-Wrestling finally got their debut MV after what, a year?

You’ll Have to Put up with My Takes on Up Up Girls Material Today

Kerrie, our wonderful weeaboo witch, had her computer crap out on her, so she begged off of doing her job as official Hello! Project correspondent and also WACK Meme Lord for Homicidols.com and instead asked that I do something with this new MV from Up Up Girls. I told her that she was more than able to continue to post from her phone, which she refused to do. I then threatened to withhold her pay, only to realize that contributors to Homicidols.com get paid in respect and bubblegum, so my threats were well and truly impotent. You’re stuck with me!

Good morning, friendly people who might still believe that I am Kerrie! Last week, in addition to the wrestling thing, there was also a solidly great new release from Up Up Girls. It was actually a B-side of their new single. Per Kerrie’s request and because it makes sense, here is the A!

And now the part wherein I pretend to actually know what I’m talking about: Continue reading

Kerrie Is Thankful for Up Up Girls Pro-Wrestling

You know, for someone who is supposed to be the official Up Up Girls correspondent for this here site, Up Up Girls news sure does slip under the net for me. Or perhaps wrestling ring in this case.

You might recall a while back that rock-hard-abs-and-edm idols Up Up Girls were recruiting pro-wrestlers to join their ranks and some time ago the winners were finally announced. Continue reading

Up Up Girls Are Utter Gutsiness

Or at least that’s what this song is boasting!

You may have noticed that I, Maniac, editor-and-fart-joke-maker-in-chief of Homicidols.com, am making this post instead of Kerrie, who is the official Up Up Girls correspondent of Homicidols.com. You see, Kerrie did in fact write a (significant) Up Up Girls post, and it’s going to run, but we ran into the logistical issue of “we’re not running two of almost the same damn thing on the same day.” Yes, I made the poor dear cry (via Twitter! I’m a monster!), but at least I maintained this site’s editorial integrity!*

Kerrie actually did write a brief add-on upon the release of this video, however: Continue reading

Up Up Girls (2)’s Existence Continues To Baffle Me, Also New Album

You know how I can never figure out if Up Up Girls (2) are official members of Up Up Girls (Kari) or just a sister group? Well, I’m still trying to figure that one out in my head, as last time we saw them they appeared as members/back-up dancers in Kari’s music videos but now they’re releasing their debut single, without any involvement from the original Up Up Girls (Kari) whatsoever!

Its released August 15, and it’s a double A-side between “Sun!x3” and “No no Ashi Dancing”. Continue reading

Up Up Girls Are Recruiting Wrestlers Because Deadlift Lolita Can’t Be the Only Idols Who Can Cause Concussions

I was thinking about what would be right for Tuesday WTF; this is perfect

What, you thought there was only room for one wrestling-themed idol unit?

It rarely feels like a week ago that the original buff idols, Up Up Girls (Kari), added new members. Probably because so far they’ve just been designated to back-up dancer and Showroom personality roles, but with the impending double-graduation of Minami and Ayano, five new girls just isn’t enough, it seems? Or maybe Up Up Girls 2 just aren’t matching up to their notably muscular seniors, because this time they’re teaming up with Japan’s DDT Wrestling Promotion and specifically looking for pro-wrestlers to join. Continue reading

Minami and Ayano are Up Up and Away from Up Up Girls

Well, this was a a surprise. A pretty gutwrenching surprise.

Official statements from management and the girls themselves right here:

So, Minami and Ayano are out of Up Up Girls, presumably some time in Summer. Minami has plans to become an actress, while Ayano will be retiring from entertainment. Continue reading

Lets Go For A Run With Up Up Girls (Kari) In Their New MV!

If you’re wondering why it’s always me who does these reports on Up Up Girls (Kari)  and not Maniac, it’s because they’re very much on the lighter scale of the Homicidols spectrum. As in I was actually pretty suprised when Maniac finally caved to fan demand and added them to the Homicidols roster. But also delighted, because if there’s a group on this site that I could call “sunshine personified”, it’s Up Up Girls (Kari).

You want an example? Well, in their newest music video, “FOREVER YOUNG”, they make running a marathon look way more fun than WACK could ever manage.

But hey, that’s not the only music video they released this week. After going on that jog, what feels better than relaxing with a nice bath? If you’re able to deal with curious child perverts and your bath time inexplicably turning into a disco party, anyway. Continue reading
