When was the last time we got to do a STARMARIE post? I know things have been weird out there, but Friday and STARMARIE used to go together like spaghetti and meat sauce (which is to say, deliciously). Yeah, more often than not it was just live clips, but what’s wrong with that? Truth be told, ol’ STARMARIE hasn’t done a whole lot of new material in recent times, and IIRC it’s been almost a year since their last release, and nowadays Homicidols Dot Com really relies on those new releases to have things to talk about.
BUT THIS IS A STARMARIE POST, and if there’s one thing that STARMARIE has always been good at providing, it’s cool idorock befitting their gimmick as like guardians of esoteric knowledge or what have you, but actually more precisely it’s cool idorock that works well as theme songs for other media. And here we are again! I was very pleased to find that STARMARIE had a whole new MV for a whole new song, like just generally, and deeply unsurprised to see that it’s a theme for a movie: Continue reading →
Man, do you guys remember when STARMARIE was a regular Friday feature around here? It was purely by circumstance and the luck of timing, as I don’t think that Friday featured all that prominently in their planning, but it just neatly fit that the monster amount of live video and announcements and MV clips and the like that this neat esoterica-themed project churned out would publish toward the end of the week. Then the Weekender got legs, and then, frankly, there were just too many idols and not enough time, and STARMARIE was always more about concept than execution anyway, and … well, I’m not going to pass on the chance to highlight them when they do put out something that’s this good visually and a convincing argument in favor of their more interesting musical moves to boot?
My goodness, that song is absolutely dripping with international, multi-era pop moves. I have no idea if it’s lyrically half as dark as the video portrays, but it can’t possibly be as bright as the instrumentation suggests. Why can’t I Japanese better!Continue reading →
Well, friends, while it may be coming to you late, I hope those of you within driving distance of HOTLANTA don’t have anything else planned, because idols of esoterica STARMARIE are making yet another U.S. appearance, this time at Anime Weekend Atlanta, and if I didn’t have half a hundred things to do I’d be considering it myself:
Man, 2018 is shaping up to be a hell of a year for idols of the homi- variety in the West. NECRONOMIDOL (twice!), Maison Book Girl, Hanako-san, Screaming Sixties, Yanakoto Sotto Mute, 2&, Koutei Camera people, Candye Syrup … and now adding STARMARIE to the list.
I’m not going to pretend to know what percentage of us tries to make the ungodly hourly difference between hemispheres work just to watch some streamed live or another, but I wanted to highlight this one because you should be learning to appreciate more idol stuff you guys! I think I even complained about that the last time I talked about STARMARIE.
In anticipation of their soon-to-drop new album (and I can only imagine that very intense new look), they’re streaming a live for FANTASY WORLD IV via YouTube:

In case you couldn’t tell by now, you guys, I’m making a very deliberate effort to mix things up a certain extra amount ever since my entreaty that we all get more diverse in the idol that we follow. The next exhibit? Motherhubbard STARMARIE, that’s who. Yes, the longtime fantasy-aligned rock idols have themselves a new album coming out next month, and they teased out the first track the other day:
Here we go again! I swear to you, it’s purely coincidence that STARMARIE, who are good and you should be listening to them why aren’t you listening to them BY GOD WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET YOU TO LISTEN TO THEM, tend to wind up on Friday. Sometimes it’s when they’re uploading, sometimes it’s when there’s a good free spot for them, sometimes it’s … I don’t care.
I swear it, while I may occasionally look in on STARMARIE’s YouTube channel to see if/when/what they have in terms of new stuff (it’s often a lot!), I don’t deliberately have this thing for them on Friday or over the weekend; things just kind of work out that way.
