I know we have been more of a blog (our true self, really!) and less of a news site in 2022. It was a weird year and timeliness regarding idol news just couldn’t be a priority, unfortunately.
However, it is with a heavy heart that I figure I should use the event mentioned in the title as sort of wrap-up of the notable things that have happened in the last few months with Codomomental. Grab your tissues and let’s get to it.
One would think that the top livestreams on The Calendar for this weekend would be the highly anticipated, first one-man lives of GO TO THE BEDS and PARADISES. Unfortunately Ticket Pia won’t take foreign credit cards for these shows despite accepting them just fine for Sakura Gakuin’s graduation livestream last weekend. The good news is that, while WACK gives their foreign fans the cold shoulder, there are several other stellar groups performing this weekend who both embrace and deserve your attention, such as:
INUWASI, one of the frontrunners for best new unit of the year, start off the weekend with a FREE 120 minute live on YouTube. If you haven’t checked them out yet, now is the perfect time to do so.

Since I’m going to hell anyway with this title, I hope I can run some marathons with Watanabe. This is this website’s version of a recipe blog, because I need padding for this article and I hope Maniac will edit this, but he likely won’t because we love a good trainwreck.

They’ve been announced a while back, they have their first live today and yet, Codomomental has been kind enough to reveal both their look and what they sound like beforehand.
Codomomental auditionned for them earlier this year, you may remember seeing the following visual giving us a taste of the goodness to come:

Their group name extremely roughly means Astral Calendar of the 13 nights. It is a dreamy/night themed group, which is reinforced by the adorable boudoir-inspired costumes. These gorgeous corsets would probably be incredibly uncomfortable to sleep in, but a girl can dream, right?
Their introductory live also feature all of Codomen’s idol offerings and it is sold out to boot! Rarely have I ever seen a more sure value for a show than this.
For what it’s worth, Imamura-san, Codomomental’s producer, has said that this group will have a no lift, no crowdsurfing policy. You’ll have to pass that energy in the other groups. However, with these rules, maybe those of us who have penlights from more traditional venues will get to use them again. There is nothing somber about their music and I hope the public looks like a starlit sky from above.
They have released a preview of their first song, titled “Oyasumi Mirai To Koi Otome” for a 2 hours window this morning; thanks to intrepid fans’ sharing, you can listen to it here. Fans impressions are under the hashtag #おやすみ未来と恋乙女, I haven’t managed to save the page within the announcement period, so no lyrics backup for now, sorry.
This group has an image much closer to the traditional idol, but the sound is still powerful and surprising. As other fans has hoped, it sounds like the early, happy Zenkimi, less dempa than their current sound, sweet but with a kick. I think it’s a great way to complement already existing groups and, hopefully, they will reach an even wider audience.
