It’s Basically a Crime That This raymay MV Isn’t Twice as Long

I had a happy thought this morning, gang, the kind of happy thought that only a person with a fancy idol website who goes on a short hiatus can really have. I was looking through the music I have saved to my phone and saw uijin’s last album there, and I got sad, for they are soon to leave us; then I went through my YouTube subscriptions and saw that their little sister group, raymay, had done a thing the other day, released a new digital single, and I got happy again. The mad brains behind this whole thing will continue to shower us with stuff!

And then, friends … then I listened, and I watched, and I cannot recommend more to you that you give this a few spins in a row, for it is magnificent:

Now That It’s Out, I Recommend the New raymay Single

Dang, release day came and went for raymay, and they haven’t shared out a video, so we may as well have ourselves a good long look at raymay’s newest single. You may rightly recall the rightful embullience toward raymay’s debut, coming late in 2018 but counting as 2019 because of how we do things and already one of the year’s very best and most promising, and their first (very good) single. Here’s the second, now out on the usual streaming platforms:

And now that you’ve taken a few minutes to listen, let’s talk about it! Continue reading

I Love You. Now Go Get raymay’s Single

Well if this isn’t a post that happened quickly and with no real plan! But hell you guys, there hasn’t been a ton to write about this week, and I’d been meaning to make good on this one way or another ever since I knew about it, so here we go.

So raymay. You know, the little sister group of uijin’s that sounds like this and was either going to reveal the full extent of their awesomeness (or maybe just ambitions thereof) on this record, or would still leave us feeling pretty optimistic about their future because come on, “pulsar” is ridiculous. That raymay. The debut single is ready for digital download. And while I’d ordinarily just make that a Weekender thing, I’m not here because step one, do one of these things:

Now come agree with me. Continue reading

We’re Blessed with a New raymay Track This Morning

I have no time for commentary for this! But I think you should listen to it if you liked the debut song from uijin sister unit raymay!

There’s a lot going on in there, and I like where they’re going with this! Some of that uijin influence of course, and what sounds to me like a very generous helping of vintage petit pas!. Things are looking good!

This Is Your First Look at raymay; Hold on to Your Butts

I don’t mean to alarm anybody, but what with the Best of 2018 only recently put to bed and 2019 still more than a week off, I feel like I already have my favorite debut for next year figured out. Yes, it’s raymay, the uijin sister group that got a heck of a treatment in the Weekender because of the way they’d been teasing out their debut MV ahead of their Christmas Eve live debut with their big sisters. That’s the kind of thing that gets a Maniac to notice!

Of course, it’s the music that matters, and it’s to the music that we now turn. What does raymay have for us as an official kick-off?

From 0 to Hype with raymay

Not that long ago, maybe a week or so, some scuttlebutt opened up in the Idolverse. One could write that sentence for just about any day on the calendar, but in this case I refer to a bubbles of interest around a new project from the same team as uijin, who you may recall as great-ass idols who exist at permanent arm’s length from anybody who doesn’t go to their many, many lives. Great, but sad! Naturally, of course, the discussion turned toward what this new sister unit will sound like — more of the big sister’s “neo Tokyo” take, or maybe something bent more(!) toward electronica, or brutal slam*, or … or what? Now we know!

They’re called raymay (Twitter), and this is the first glimpse into what they’ll sound like. Just listen to this swag: Continue reading
