Babyraids JAPAN! The most idorock group in existence is also like making cold-brewed coffee from roasted, ground fun beans. I spent a solid week a while back just rotating through MVs and live videos of theirs; just in my own mind (feel free to disagree!), they have the same raw, manic joy in their work as Dempagumi.inc, but at a more manageable pace and without half of the flashing lights.
They’re releasing a new single next month, and they’re of course doing the one-man routine to promote it. And to promote that, they’ve been putting out these cool promo videos that just kind of lay it down: Continue reading →
They’re putting out this single as a venue-only CD. I want that CD:
But Chemical Reaction’s parent agency thing, Michipro, just dumped a ton of stuff from their acts onto YouTube over the last few days, and that includes some additional goodies from Chemicari: Continue reading →
And now you’ll see what I meant in that BiS post; this was actually scheduled last night
Why didn’t somebody (Mister Mister) tell me about this? “Irritating” “Special Day” (see comment), Batten Show Jo Tai’s third single, is out on Feb. 15, and the PV is out now, and it’s exactly the jolt you need on stupid January Hump Day.
STARMARIE! One of my favorite personally new idols of 2016, always a good time to visit with, dropped a butt-ton of video and music over the last couple of weeks. With their cool esoterica theme and totally unique style, I can think of no better way for us to get ginned up for the bitter end of this brutal, exciting year.
First, live PVs. Like, actual PVs and not the stuff to follow. Feast on this jazz:
“Nameless Star of My Home”
Portrait of a Beautiful Leona
Nice! They also just dropped this preview, “Hoshinotereka,” on Soundcloud:
The upstart queens of idorock, Q’ulle, are thankfully still alive (get it?) after the little bit of drama back in the fall, and they’re promoting their big “evolution” show on Jan. 7 using the only means that ever makes sense — by DVD video digest!
Just in case that Facebook post didn’t render, or you like embeds or something
Actually, yes, somebody (d0fph0t0!) did mention Babyraids Japan, in the context of the Best of 2016 voting and why the hell weren’t Babyraids Japan included? And the basic reason is that they weren’t nominated by anybody. But the other basic reason is that, a few posts about them here and there, they’ve never really caught on the way some others do.
So with lots of eyes looking at ye olde Homicidols.com over the next few days, let’s check in on the queens of “emotional idorock.”
What luck! This charming video appeared on YouTube about a week ago:
