Well That Was Easy

It feels like basically yesterday that we were lamenting the departure of our dear Yuna from PassCode. I think everyone who follows them was immediately curious to see who would replace her in the group, right down to some obligatory dream casting. And yet somehow I allowed myself a moment of pleasant surprise when this tweet popped up a little while ago:

Yep, that’s ex-LADYBABY Emily, that is undeniably a very good harsh singer but one of the more oddly utilized ones in her old group. The timing of it all suggests that she was already in the wings before Yuna’s retirement announcement, sure, but frankly you probably could have had her on retainer ever since LADYBABY went under and barely missed a beat — the two singers’ styles aren’t quite the same, but honestly? Natural fit, right timing, easy thing for fans to accept. Emily officially joins in a few weeks at the kickoff of a quick Zepp tour prior to the close of the STRIVE tour pre-Budokan, so good opportunities for those who actually can to properly greet the new girl.

Good job, PassCode, and welcome, Emily!

Everything’s Coming up Malcolm Mask McLaren

This website is very pro-Malcolm Mask McLaren, so while we do try to keep a certain objectivity about this group and that and which releases are truly good and which are basically warmed-over garbage, some just kind of bring out the enthusiastic fan in us. I won’t make a list; suffice it to say that MMM, the actual focus of this post, is one of them. And when I went to check up on a video I saw they’d released on YouTube, it set off a whole string of discovery moments that make me feel just incredibly happy for them, so yeah, they get a whole-ass post to celebrate the good things afoot! Malcolm Mask McLaren Makes Multiple Magnificent Moves

Go ahead, tell me all about how much you missed the alliterative wonders that are Malcolm Mask McLaren, who are perpetually too good to not get talked about more but also don’t do enough stuff to warrant talking too much about say la vee. When we last saw our intrepid formerly masked punk rock idols, they were doing legitimately great work and also preparing to say goodbye to the last two of their original members, which … well, they made my list of saddest departures, but nobody else’s apparently. Since then, it’s been the two newbies added last year setting out as their own version of the dynamic duo that Ai and Mone had kept up for a while, keeping the coals burning for another big move.

Hence today, what better way to signal your next steps than in video form? It’s not a new thing, but from their months-old second album My Life, My Way, but obviously a slightly different version for reasons that will become clear in a few seconds:

Hey, who’s that!

I’m sorry, since when does easycore go all-in on a breakdown? That was something else. Hell, with those percussion and keyboard moves, I thought maybe I’d run into a PassCode rendition for a second. I really like this song you guys! Dare I say that this might be the best song that they’ve ever put out? I didn’t pick up My Life, My Way because I bought very little idol music this year, period, but I can say with confidence that I’m having a tough time finding anything from prior releases that would compete with it.

Whew. Anyway, yes, there’s now a third member to round out the group, bringing them back to a trio that has no members in common with any of the previous trio lineups:

Welcome to the club, Shino, and maybe being new will let you be the one to ask the impertinent question: Why are we still called Malcolm Mask McLaren if we don’t wear masks at all anymore?

Idol Cannot Contain the Power of a BILLIE IDOL Plus Pour Lui, Which Is Real OMG

LUI is IDLE would be an amazing title for ths post, but it’s the opposite!

It turns out that the only thing that Pour Lui can’t do well is retire. Yes, friends, despite having tied up her BiS career twice now, and despite being old enough to be mother to most of RIOT BABY, Lui, idol GOAT and progenitor of most things loud and bloody and rude, is coming back … with BILLIE IDLE:

Oh, and there’s going to be a new album, whatevs

New Member, New Freaky Imagery for Yanakoto Sotto Mute

I will make no secret of the fact that I’m super-duper excited about Bellring Girls Heart agencymate / sister group Yanakoto Sotto Mute; their EP is fantastic, and they have a very cool vibe that’s more “opium den” than Bellheart’s “graceful mania.”

In addition to the fantastic art they just employed (Look at that banner! My goodness.), they also introduced a new fourth member today! Continue reading

It’s Just a BiS/H Week Now: Read Ayuni D’s Intro Interview

Between the BiS return spawning Know Your BiStory and successor-turned-sister group BiSH having a big free live that they streamed online and had pop up on YouTube mere hours after the fact, it was probably silly to think that this would somehow not be like that big FAKE METAL JACKET release week earlier in the year; it’s a WACK world, and we’re just living in it.

But Ayuni D (DY-NO-MITE!) has probably been the fandom’s biggest target of attention of all. Who is this demure new person in Hug Me‘s old position, what is she about, why does she look like somebody you might have known growing up, etc.? This interview rapidly made the rounds when she debuted, but it’s, you know, in Japanese. What if it were in English? Continue reading

Fruitpochette Teases Its Second Member, So Let’s Play a Game

First things first: Fruitpochette’s management released this teaser video last night:

Brutal

A-ha! Now, some very smart people have commented that, if Shiori were to be receiving a new partner/s for Fruitpochette to be Fruitpochette, it would probably happen at TIF, and the announced EP lined up well with an expectation that TIF would be a big spot for the project. And here we are! Congratulate yourselves, smart people!

So who’s it gonna be? Our only real clue is that the other member also wears combat boots, and that they are larger combat boots than Shiori’s. That could immediately set off alarm bells about a certain somebody returning to action, but it’s worth pointing out that like 95 percent of the world’s population (probably) has larger feet than Shiori, who is a very small person.

Nonetheless, we here at Homicidols.com are enormous fans of completely irresponsible rumor-mongering, so let’s just toss things at the wall and see what sticks: Continue reading

And the Newest Member of BiSH Is …

We’ve been waiting for this ever since Hug Me’s sad departure, and it makes sense that BiSH would make the announcement just a few days before returning to the scene of last year’s crimes against decorum at TIF that were in no way a work by management nope not at all.

Drumroll …

Your newest member of BiSH is … Continue reading

And Then There Were Four: Yukueshirezutsurezure Goes Large

Adding Tsuya last week was an expected, probably necessary move; yami-kawaii existential horror fans Yukueshirezutsurezure decided to double down (literally two times) and add themselves a fourth:

Go say hi to Kokoko.

Antino Ideology is slated for delayed release in just over a week now; it’s unlikely that they re-recorded vocals from before Kichi left. Does that maybe mean we’ll get yet another recording from the Codomomental universe in the nearish future?

I’m Very Excited about This Yukueshirezutsurezure News, You Guys

New member announcement, and new songs …

!

Just don’t run that through a translator and get confused when it says that they’re doing a naked show. It doesn’t actually say that.

UPDATE: Hey look, the new member!

She looks so … not emotionally scarred and brimming with nascent violence. Give her time, I guess.
