INUWASI was one of our favorite loudol debuts of 2020 with their refreshingly melodic takes on metalcore and electronic hardcore. In the lead up to this year’s November 2nd release of their first full album, the Hybrid Raptor’s spokesunit announced that they are now broadening their aesthetic to include more pop-friendly genres. Yesterday, they dropped the results of this foray into new musical territory with their MV for “Never ending”.
INUWASI
Just Kind of Like, Wow, INUWASI, You Did It
I was just about to head “to work” this morning, gang, content as I was that my lone contribution to idol so far this week was fine, but when you take one more parting look at Twitter and you see INUWASI everywhere and MV stills, at least if you’re anything like me, you stop. I wasn’t around when they debuted, but I was definitely there for their epic breakout in the fall and what felt like the beginning of something notable. Why risk missing out on their next move?
That’s … that started out like a super-heavy dance track and then turned into something I almost can’t describe. Pop melodies like that aren’t supposed to be *waves hands* THAT. I’m about as speechless as it gets these days.
Anyway, Thanatos EP out in a couple of weeks, and then a one-man a couple of weeks after that. INUWASI made everybody pay attention last year; what will they do with it now?
This INUWASI Number Is This Month So Far in a Nutshell
Man, I don’t want to belabor this too much. Are you American, or by the mere fact of existing on this planet bound irretrievably but inexorably into the political dramas of the country? Yes across the board, then. Great. So you’ve no doubt noticed that things have been a little spicy around here lately. Dramatic. High-stakes! This very week has been one long emotional rollercoaster, and frankly even with the end of the track and the station and all of the other people in line right there you get this sense that the train’s going to suddenly get right through and head back up the climb hill so we can all have another ride. Fantastic stuff.
If there’s anything (idol related) that can sum up the week, it’s the first real-deal MV from INUWASI and their bringing a bunch of sounds that I didn’t expect but fully welcome:
2:41
As our long national anxiety attack drones on, it’s a fitting capper to the year that everybody talks about as “oh man that was a hell of a year, didn’t X and Y and Z and B all debut that year? DIDN’T TIF CATCH ON FIRE?” which may be a bit revisionist, but still. And with Best Of season coming up so fast that Kerrie is literally in the process of drafting the intro post for it right this very second, we’d better hurry up and get through more idol debuts before the bottom falls out of the opportunity and we give someone short shrift!
Weekend Livestream Spotlight: INUWASI, seireki13ya, NILKLY and MERRY BAD END
One would think that the top livestreams on The Calendar for this weekend would be the highly anticipated, first one-man lives of GO TO THE BEDS and PARADISES. Unfortunately Ticket Pia won’t take foreign credit cards for these shows despite accepting them just fine for Sakura Gakuin’s graduation livestream last weekend. The good news is that, while WACK gives their foreign fans the cold shoulder, there are several other stellar groups performing this weekend who both embrace and deserve your attention, such as:
INUWASI, one of the frontrunners for best new unit of the year, start off the weekend with a FREE 120 minute live on YouTube. If you haven’t checked them out yet, now is the perfect time to do so.

Let’s Discover Some Idols: INUWASI
So I’m drifting through idol media these days like a half-aware drunk, and let me tell you, friends, it’s a weird feeling. I won’t tell on myself so much as to name names here, but I’ll admit to seeing a particular group’s photo, and seeing their name, and being like, wait, I know what that is, wtf is that though? And then I looked and I’d written like 10 posts about them. Never do a hiatus, I guess is the rule here.
Anyway, lots of new/ish groups out there, and I figure that I always used to at least try to cover them, so why stop now, and also hey neat there’s also stuff that’s almost a year old that I never got to before! THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.
Which brings me to INUWASI (Twitter), who I got to by slipping and falling off of a NEMURIORCA tweet and seeing a completely different idol set when I came to. But yes, they’re also part of the Maple.Inc family, and so have more than passing similarities to MAPLEZ and etc., and oh no they debuted in like February. Oh that’s awful. Cheese and rice, can you imagine? You’re up there idoling your ass off and there’s like only 10% of the usual sweaty wota dancing in surgical masks as there’d usually be? Terrible. And then everything gets canceled or moved online? Woof.
At the time of my discovery, not-ol’ INUWASI had a couple of live clips to enjoy. I use the verb conditionally, as “different strokes for different folks” for sure applies here. Let’s start with the better of the two:
