Zombie idols are all kinds of well and good. When you think about zombies as a meta-pop cultural thing, they can represent a whole lot of things — loss of self, relentless danger, apocalypse — and so are excellent vehicles for commentary. The whole being-eaten thing is scary on its own, you know? A skilled storyteller can take all of that in just about any direction you might like. So, applied to idol, you face a mess of possibilities, from mirroring wota back at themselves, to the transition from person to performer to idol, to the reduction of self to a mindless automaton.
Or maybe you’re just into the idea of literal living dead idols! It’s not like Dual Eye hasn’t gone in this direction before!
Anyway, ANotheЯ may have started off as just Luna doing surprisingly competent solo work, but the plan was always to have her a) shuffle through the streets of Tokyo at night and b) devour the living flesh of other girls so that c) at least some of them, rather than just being food, would become new members of ANotheЯ. It’s a pretty straightforward process!
We’d had occasion to see the results once before; today was the day to get into the creation of #3: Continue reading
You can’t keep me from punning the hell out of this
Once upon a time, when literal flesh-eating zombie unit A.N.otheЯ was announced, it was im and explicit that there would eventually be more members than just Luna, the original one. The concept, see, was that this shambling Romero-derived corpse would, uh, shamble through Tokyo, biting the living. Yes, to feast upon their warm vitality, that’s important, but also because her bite would turn each victim in turn into a new member of A.N.otheЯ.
It beats auditions, I’m sure! /rimshot
Anyway, that finally got us somewhere, and now there are two zombie idols! Continue reading
A.N.otheЯ is officially alive now, as alive as a zombie unit at 20 percent power can be, and there’s some degree of buzz thereabouts, so let’s go ahead and record, for posterity’s sake, the birth(?) of
I am hilarious
So yeah, after being pretty gung-ho about the first good official demo from stop-making-me-type-this flesh-eating zombie idol act A.N.otheЯ, I was significantly less so about the second demo and Weekendered it — yes, that random collection of weekly items does double as a repository of the meh — only to almost immediately thereafter see that there was in fact a third demo, and that third demo is like way better!
Here’s the whole thing: Continue reading
Hey, check it out — Dual Eye Rec zombie idol project A.N.otheЯ, which I’m only entering correctly so as not to confuse the SEO goblins, has a nice clip for us! Of course, this happened yesterday, and now I didn’t have the wherewithal, but I’ll be darned if the living dead who may be recruiting members via zombie bite are relegated to the Weekender. Fortunately, John has already doing the heavy lifting, so we get a post with very little Maniac energy!
I introduced A.N.otheЯ to you fine folks a little bit ago, well now we have something to hear. This was announced earlier in the day, if anyone was paying attention. 【拡散希望】 本日の19時にA.N.otheЯの1st.DEMOを公開します。 宜しくお願いします。#アナザー — A.N.otheЯ(アナザー) 公式 (@A_N_othe_R) June 18, 2018 How about a listen to what this new group, still under construction, sounds like.

Well, I was about halfway through doing my own version of this (in draft mode since Thursday, so shame on me anyway), when I saw that John had all the detail aligned in a more up-to-date thing anyway, so go let the man educate you. Me, I’m just glad that Waka is in fact doing things.
Also, the odds of me typing out “ANotherЯ” very often are low, so expect to see lots of references to “AN.” Continue reading
