Under Beasty Made It to Their Fourth Anniversary

This started off as a Weekender joint, but I had one of those moments where you realize that you’ve been forgetting about idols that you really like simply because there’s too much dang idol and other stuff, and they’ve been a little off to the side of the radar, and whose fault is that but your own? Exactly.

Under Beasty, The Super-Indie Idols Who Could, one of those groups that I’ve pretty much always and pretty much always will champion if for no greater reason than their ability to prove that even the totally self-produced can make this wild game work, have had a pretty good ride of things over the years. They’re not even super-indie anymore, having hooked up with actual management along the way and gotten a strong enough budget to release stuff like this and put on decently sized one-mans.

So consider this a celebration of them, in a way, because this right here is what I wanted to Weekender:

In a remarkable little coincidence, I had gone looking up YKG the other day to see if they were doing anything notable, and I was happy to see that they have activities planned around their fifth anniversary(!):

You can learn more about that stuff and even look at the … look, idol merch is idol merch; if you want a tote bag with your favorite group’s one-off event logo on it, you know what you’re getting yourself into.

But then your friend and mine, Phillter, the world’s greatest YKG fan, sent this neat little video of them doing a live cover of BiSH’s “Hoshi ga,” and …

Holy shit

This Probably Isn’t What You Expected from Candy||Stripe Neo

Tonight, PAC iDOL held a third anniversary party for Lolisyn*, and most of the current roster, including REBOOT, (plus some friends) 564’ed themselves up and hit the stage for a night of covers and coveralls. There’s a lot of info in this forum post by Jul.

This is all well and good, but it did create fantastic opportunities for idols to try out something different than the norm. For instance, Candy||Stripe Neo, who normally looks and sounds like this:

… wound up like this instead: Continue reading
