Oldie but a Goodie: BiS’s ‘Odd Future’

We all deserve to go into our Monday with a feeling other than existential dread. And given that the big event coming down the pike (so far) is Yukuetsurezure releasing some new music around 9:00 a.m. ET, that’s, like, an eternity from now. So here’s what might be BiS’s “best” all-around song:

I chose the First Summer Uika edit of the video because First Summer Uika is the literal harbinger of destruction.

You could just listen to that. You could contemplate the bad English lyrics, the vocal arrangement, the all-too-Japanese instrumentation, the almost unfair emotional build. You could be like “Damn, that’s actually a really great song, maybe I should listen to it a few more times, but even louder.” You could even find a nice juxtaposition between the lyrical theme and the actual, literal living theme that BiS was going through at the time and is documented in the video. You could say that the whole thing is a masterpiece in multisensory emotional manipulation, right down to grabbing you by the throat by having a tearful FSU thrown back in for a little soliloquy right at the very peak of the crescendo …

But that’s none of my business. I’m not going to tell you what to do with your day.
