The power duo NaNoMoRaL have been charming us with some really terrific music since last year, with their debut EP “Nisan ka Tanso” being one of my personal favorite releases of 2018. When you combine Amamiya Miku‘s raw, emotional vocals, and terrific stage presence with Kajiwara Paseli‘s tech wizardry and secondary vocals, you have a group that’s proven themselves to be a unit worth watching.

I feel like 2019 could be a highly eventful year for these two, so it’s welcome news to see their first true “MV” finally released, and it’s for a new song at that!

Let’s talk about the actual video. One of the best things about the state of video editing technology is you don’t need to spend a lot of money without making something that gets the job done perfectly. This is really all they needed to do. NaNoMoRaL is all about Amamiya belting her heart and soul out while Paseli-chan plays the mad genius who doesn’t hide behind a curtain. It’s simple as heck and to the point with Amamiya, a microphone, Paseli, musical implements, and whole lot of feeling.

And the song! It’s pure signature NaNoMoRaL, and yeah, it may be ambitious to call this “signature” when the group is still so new, but they’ve already got their own thing going on and they’re doing it brilliantly, so give them the credit they’ve earned. NaNoMoRaL is already a unique and different voice on the highly diverse idol spectrum and this is a testament to that. Here’s a live performance of the tune to compare…

What I’m hoping for this group in 2019 is, naturally, more music of the quality they’ve already delivered, better distribution of their releases, especially digital options so they can reach more ears, and a continued focus on engaging live performances. These two have something special happening here, and good things are still to come. If you aren’t already on board, you oughta get a ticket for this train quickly cause the destination is going to be well worth the ride.
