Impossible Dream Realized: Somebody’s Coming West

Yeah, shut up, I know it’s not the first time it’s ever happened and no, I had nothing to do with it, but I’ll be gosh darned if I don’t feel like the whole point of this stupid project has been validated by complete strangers.

Hey guys, remember when Maison Book Girl was in Canada last autumn? Did a few shows? Darn near got awarded Performance of the Year for it? Next Music from Tokyo put that together. It was tour #9. Tour #10 is in May. Feast your tired-of-reading-stupid-Maniac eyes on this:

  1. See you in Toronto (please go back to Toronto)
  2. I will be doing some additional paid work between now and then for the solo purpose of having enough loonies (as I’m informed the Canadese call their money) to buy every possible piece of merch and every possible cheki scenario, plus lessons so I can finally express to CoCoCo that I’m on to the fact that she’s some kind of obsidian-eyed alien and not really a person at all
  3. I might be crying; no, I’m not, you are

Sorry! Go read that post. And now I can also tell you that our lovely, anonymous friend in Tokyo tipped this news a couple of weeks ago; in a joint Tsurezure no Sei Da twitcast, it was heavily implied that Tsurezure would be making international appearances, and our friend said that he believed that he heard Komachi hum “Canada.”

I’m impossibly excited about this. And in the spirit of NMFT’s organizer scooping himself, I’m going to go ahead and say that, with months on our hands ahead of time, we can and should not only organize as much as possible to support this tour, but that we can and should organize as much as possible to have a great time while doing it.

More details (dates, etc.) to come, and also watch out for the chance to heavily influence who the final participant in NMFT10 is and who should come in NMFT11.

  1. This was about the best and most unexpected news I could get this weekend. I will SO be there even though I am about as far from Canada as you can get and still be in the States.

I’ve been lost without a concert or tour to look forward to. It’s nice to have direction in life again!

  2. I was just about to say “Stay jealous,” but I’m glad to hear you’re going to NMFT too! Last year’s shows were unbelievable, and I really mean that. As a Japanese music obsessive, I still can’t believe they actually happened. I’ll let nothing stop me from going to the Vancouver show, so we can compare notes 😀

  3. Well, I’ll encourage you all to go once I get my tickets 8D.

But all the other groups were completely amazing. It’s a shame we won’t be in the same city, but I would be willing to write a review of the Montreal show!

  5. Having been to the last two NMFT shows, I enjoyed them a ton and they’re super affordable (the organizer loses money on his shows). It’s pretty much the only opportunity to see Japanese bands in Canada. Maison Book Girl’s performance was good even if the audience in Montreal wasn’t really sure how to react in the beginning. From what I could tell on youtube videos, they got a better reaction in Toronto (not surprising). Looking forward to the upcoming show.
