Your First Look and Listen at Necroma’s ‘DEATHLESS’ Is Here

Oh, oh my friends, I don’t want to paint everybody’s expectations for NECRONOMIDOL’s DEATHLESS album as being as high as mine, but, if “ITHAQUA” is any indication, it’s going to be the early front-runner for Album of the Year.

I know they’re in Japan, but we’re one fjord and/or burning church away from it being Norway

Man, Necroma’s doing a real number on pretty much everybody else in idol+metal anymore; while others (not named FRUITPOCHETTE or Babymetal, at least) fall into predictable sounds or just plain fail to stay in operation, Necroma’s out here blasting away with the forces of evil. The song I dig; the only thing that could make this video better would be if their final approach to the camera were on the backs of timber wolves and/or polar bears, and/or maybe if they were wielding outlandish bladed weapons.

I bet you’re thinking, “Maniac, do you think the ablum’s any good?” Friend, I can tell you that you just need to wait until tomorrow, when DEATHLESS goes on sale and I publish my review! That’s right, I’ve known all along! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Lyrics:

The moon fades into mist
As shadows gather among the pines

Hope for tomorrow evaporates
Withering in the wastes

Drowning in a sea of stars
Hoarfrost, your burial vestments
Stepping into a phantasm
As your soul freezes over

Midwinter night’s sky Absolute zero
Let the Aurora Borealis light your way

The endless frozen sky at your fingertips
As you overtake the glittering North Star

A world of clouds at your feet
The lingering warmth of memory – no way to return

The horizon unfurls ahead
Fill your outstretched hand with stardust

Drowning in a sea of stars
Hoarfrost, your burial vestments
Stepping into a phantasm
As your soul freezes over

Midwinter night’s sky Absolute zero
Let the Aurora Borealis light your way

The endless frozen sky at your fingertips
As you overtake the glittering North Star

Can you hear the voice on the frost-winds?
Leave this world behind
Join me and walk upon the wind

Midwinter night’s sky Absolute zero
Let the Aurora Borealis light your way

The endless frozen sky at your fingertips
As you overtake the glittering North Star

Can you hear the voice on the frost-winds?
Leave this world behind
Join me and walk upon the wind

(But seriously, Necroma’s not messing around out there. Watch this video many times and share it with your friends; their stuff doesn’t get nearly the YouTube traffic that it deserves. Also, remember that Friday is #Deathless4Necroma day!)

  1. I suppose the un-dead don’t feel the cold.
To me, it’s got a really European feel to it. I think it’s the harmonies, that have a nice choral sound to them.
Bears would have been good too. Maybe ayumikurikamaki rampaging through the woods rendering all asunder.

  2. You think they are not predictable doing “Idol+metal”? Probably because what they actually do is “Idol+synthwave/darkwave” half the time. 😉

Anyway, i kind of dug this song at first but it meanders around and doesn’t go anywhere interesting so i sort of got bored halfway through.
And that harpsichord sounding thing that appears a couple of times felt super out of place, like it was forced in there.
