Here we go again! I swear to you, it’s purely coincidence that STARMARIE, who are good and you should be listening to them why aren’t you listening to them BY GOD WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET YOU TO LISTEN TO THEM, tend to wind up on Friday. Sometimes it’s when they’re uploading, sometimes it’s when there’s a good free spot for them, sometimes it’s … I don’t care.
I swear it, while I may occasionally look in on STARMARIE’s YouTube channel to see if/when/what they have in terms of new stuff (it’s often a lot!), I don’t deliberately have this thing for them on Friday or over the weekend; things just kind of work out that way.
Gosh darnit, I sometimes feel like the only person in this country who gives a crap about my favorite gothic noir idols, and I had no idea that this album was happening! Or, rather, happened yesterday!
Here’s the trailer with full track listing and heaviness:
STARMARIE! One of my favorite personally new idols of 2016, always a good time to visit with, dropped a butt-ton of video and music over the last couple of weeks. With their cool esoterica theme and totally unique style, I can think of no better way for us to get ginned up for the bitter end of this brutal, exciting year.
First, live PVs. Like, actual PVs and not the stuff to follow. Feast on this jazz:
“Nameless Star of My Home”
Portrait of a Beautiful Leona
Nice! They also just dropped this preview, “Hoshinotereka,” on Soundcloud:
Man, am I ever glad that I got tipped off to STARMARIE. This occult rock / metal unit never fails to make me wish I were spending a chilly October evening in a castle’s library, reading original manuscripts of John Dee’s and seriously wondering if a circle of salt would actually protect me from the otherworldly horrors I could summon according to the instructions therein.
I promised a while ago that I’d get around to sharing one of the oldest idol projects in our collective interest, and it’s a pretty calm Sunday until the iCON DOLL LOUNGE stuff starts to trickle out, so hey, let’s take a look at STARMARIE.
First, a very long live video (which is what reminded me):
