Do you want to know why the Weekender was late, other than because somebody needed to have breakfast made on account of a little too much carousing last night? It’s because I wanted to add a SPARK SPEAKER note but this was right there in the feed and I needed to get my stuff together enough to watch it multiple times and think of a post to blog!
Anyway, listen, this is very cool and good for the former DINOSAUR BRAIN: Following on the release of THE WORLD IS MINE, the song from it called “REALTA” got picked up as the end theme of a TV show for January, and while this is a really awkwardly grammared sentence it must yet be added that “REALTA” was also given the MV treatment because that makes a ton of sense to do in that situation.
Confession: When YouTube was all, hey guy, there’s this SPARK SPEAKER thing, my first and overwhelming thought was, I wonder how much heavier they can take this. Instead, it’s more like Classic SPARK SPEAKER!
Of course, there’s no way to actually purchase the thing yet, but keep paying attention to SPARK SPEAKER and you’ll find out.
As you are no doubt aware, SPARK SPEAKER, who are good and cool, have a new album to promote, their second, THE WORLD IS MIND (which had better be a Scarface reference or I riot), and it’s already gotten added-bonus attention from fans because of a demonstrable shift in sound, which we got a flavor of from “paradigm shift”. Everybody who commented on that, from a position of knowledge, agreed that it was at least an interesting move, and that the album was in fact quite good and worth grabbing.
Well, gang, if you’re not among that esteemed company, here’s your chance for a meaningful taste of the whole shebang: Continue reading →
I have this terrible sinking feeling that there’s a full-on MV for this happening at any minute and I’m going to have some egg on my face, but that’s fine, I needed to have posted this a few days ago anyway.
SPARK SPEAKER! The hard-charging at times surprisingly melodic unit that you either love or don’t yet know that you love is … well, that whole “a few days ago” thing, they actually released their second full album today, and they published this lyric video to get you hype, and they just so happen to be rolling out some adjustments to their sound. Plus or minus, you decide:
I feel increasingly like SPARK SPEAKER is becoming this undeniable force. Chika, yes, for all that entails, and hard-working street performers on top of that, but please take a look at this live video and tell me that you aren’t immensely jealous of the people who got to experience it in-the-flesh live:
Do you guys follow the SPARK SPEAKER news account on Twitter? And if you do, do you know who’s behind it? Like, manager-san or one of the members or just some English-fluent wota with the right idea? Anyway, go follow it now if you aren’t.
This is the kind of thing that happens when you do follow SPARK SPEAKER news and go through the feed to see if you’ve missed anything because you happened to be looking for something else in your post history and see a reference to the group in question and hey, what are they up to, it’s been a few months:
This is yesterday’s news, but worth being today’s news, too: With the release of their EP coming up in a heartbeat, SPARK SPEAKER, who are on a genuinely great hot streak, dropped this MV yesterday, and it’s … well, you’re literate and aware of the title of the post, so I don’t really need to belabor it:
And a final item from the end of last week! SPARK SPEAKER, who seem like they’re still enjoying the afterglow of the KYO-MEI release and are a month removed from what looks like it was a pretty successful one-man, unveiled this one at said show and dropped some pro-shot live video to share it with the world:
I love it. I wasn’t completely on the SPARK SPEAKER bandwagon back when they first debuted, because reasons, but they’ve completely won me over in the span of the last couple of months, first by showing that they actually had a real-deal chance to make it, and then by doing that ever-so-crucial thing called Being Good. And they are good! And I see that other folks are recognizing it, too, and I hope the growth in numbers of fans pays off for this nicely developing project.
