If You Wanted NO MARK’s Album for the Price of True Love, You Can Do That

You may have seen the scuttlebutt, but I’ve taken my own advice and want to make sure that no stones go unturned, so here: Hey, do you guys remember NO MARK? You know, one of the umpteen great debutantes of 2018, and the umpteen-minus-five-or-whatever who didn’t get a finalist nomination in the Best Of but would probably at least make some folks consider it in the right light? This NO MARK? Right! They’re super-idol-titled SET YOU FREE album is available for free on OTOTOY through Friday (Japan time, I presume), so:

Now, there’s no good reason at all to not get this, but let’s walk through why anyway. Continue reading

NO MARK’s Closing the Year Strong

This is one of those things that I mentioned in the Weekender, a too-good-for-passing-mention from earlier in the week that I nonetheless didn’t get a chance to do anything with because fml anymore, yet here we are with a dreary Saturday and me sans other obligations for a hot minute. New post! And it’s about NO MARK!

Who, if you’ll recall, are fun and good, so this note about their releasing an album soon is worth getting hype over:

Have You Heard the New Trailer from NO MARK?

It was only a few weeks ago that punk rock idol unit NO MARK made me yes mark the hell out. Did I do the same thing when I heard this here?

I can’t possibly make my reaction to this any clearer than to say that I had no idea that Bad Religion had gotten into the idol game. What a good-but-unconventional song! It’s also (obviously) their third digital single, which is quite a nice chunk of output for such a short lifespan so far. Good for them!

Holy Crap, This NO MARK Song

Did you guys hear this yet? Or maybe the better question is, are you ready to hear this yet? There have been so many sick debuts this year that I’d all but put NO MARK out of mind (after posting about them just a month ago!), which is funny given how much I enjoyed them right out of the gate.

Well, they’re releasing their second digital single on Wednesday, and this is what it’s going to sound like, and /inserts ear plugs:

What a title

Have mercy. The reptilian part of my brain wanted me to retreat to the same spot that I did for that extremely extra YUZUKINGDOM song, but while this tune’s got 18 kinds of things going on, it’s still somehow more coherent than that thing was. My goodness. I hope there’s an MV for it.

No Mark Is New and Good

“This is cool and you should do it” was the message that I originally wrote in this box a couple of months ago. I don’t remember why, exactly — one of the usual suspects on a tip, likely, or maybe one of those random Twitter dives — and in fact ultimately forgot that it even existed. So it goes! But then the No Mark social accounts (like Twitter!) turned out the goods on Monday, and there was much rejoicing, as

This is their first single:
