The mishmash! I was practically giddy when this showed up in the ol’ video queue. Despite not getting nearly as much love from other quarters as I wish they had, the mishmash (formerly just “mishmash”) were among my personal favorite debutantes from last year, with a kind of maturity and understated comfort zone that just doesn’t exist much in a field dominated by try-hard teenagers.
In not even three quarters of a year since their debut in the springtime, the mishmash has had a pretty good rise, and it’s culminating in their first album, due on the 13th. And with albums come what? Videos! Here you go:
Ah, mishmash, the kind of pun-ready, merry-marking idol group that I’d have to invent from the innate substance of the universe if they didn’t already exist, so perfectly they fit into their niche as they do. Yes, one of 2018’s top debutantes, and one yet to fail to make good on that reputation with any release. Bully on them, then, to keep clips of tracks flowing onto Soundcloud, which has inexplicably emerged as the best resource for new idol stuff short of an international CD service. The latest entry:
I legitimately hate being more than a week late on this, especially because it doesn’t look like the hype train went nearly far enough in response. Maybe I can help to make up for it by amplifying that hype!
Mishmash, who you may recall I damn near had a stroke over back when they debuted, are yes part of the epic Class of 2018, and they’re making good on their promise at the kind of rate that suggests only good things ahead.
