I Have a Suggestion for the Next Subtitling Project

Somebody hurry up and call boans and tell him to book that person who did the YMM and BRGH movies, because we’re going to need some dang translation and subtitling with a quickness.

A new WACKumentary, this one focused on BiSH instead of the nasty, brutish and short history of SiS, will be upon us in no time:

Here’s the trailer: Continue reading

FRUITPOCHETTE’s Releasing a Tour Documentary, Too

Hot off the heels of announcing their collaboration recording as Full Machineguns (with SEX MACHINEGUNS), FRUITPOCHETTE’s now also releasing this documentary of the 2014 tour:

Obviously from the Mina era of the group, it’s only available by mail order or at live shows, but damn, that’s an idol DVD that I’d actually want to own.

How’s Your Saturday? Maybe Watch the BiS Rebirth Documentary

It’s a story we all know pretty well by now, but heck, if you can Japanese or even just like being able to reminisce about the BiS training camp, this digest-version shot documentary put together by the fine humans at Lute might tickle your fancy.

Man. For a month that seems to have a release from just about everybody coming at some point, February’s kind of the blah so far. Continue reading

Mirror, Magnifying Glass or FYI? “Tokyo Idols” at Sundance

This is really interesting, both in that it exists and in how it’s approaching its subject. Tokyo Idols is at the Sundance film festival (running through next Sunday!); here’s the trailer:

The Awesome PassCode Documentary Series Continues

Man, remember the last thing we had from PassCode on Future Standard? Phillter isn’t going to be translating a transcription of this one, I don’t think (but anybody who wants to should feel free!), thought I think the story kind of tells itself, as good documentary will:

You Don’t Even Need Japanese to Understand This Idol Documentary That’s All in Japanese

This is pretty cool; if you have a little while today or tomorrow or over the weekend or at some point before the heat death of the universe, give this documentary on the idol underground, the people performing and the people who love them a watch:

What’s All This Now? Bucho: Behind the Music?

Update: Peter wants to clarify:

Ah, the ONEMAN isn’t just for him leaving, it’s for the dissolving of the entire group. Again, as per my older post, I still think it’s a hoax for many reasons. But, make no mistake, it’s about the WHOLE group, not just one without him.

Just remember …

As we know, Deathrabbits may in fact be preparing for a Bucho-less future. The much-maligned manager/vocalist/shoddy investor was put on notice a few months back, being told that his financial shenanigans were leading him to be booted from the group, his last live scheduled for a November date at LIQUID.

Deathrabbits did go ahead and release this video for “Anger” just a little bit ago, still featuring the man about to be formally fired, so one could conceivably believe that this is all just a sham, a put-on, some grand game with the feelings of the Deathrabbits Army.

I do believe that this little featurette will put those feelings to rest. Continue reading

Two More Segments of the Splash! Road to ReNY

Not a whole lot of selling to be done here; you’re either like YAY SPLASH or WGAF. Either way:

First three installments here. I don’t have any Japanese, but I like these anyway. A little how-it’s-done documentary stuff is always neat.

BiS Kokugikan Documentary Available, and Help Choose the Next Project

Our friend boans added in the forums the other day that the BiS documentary we may have helped crowdfund has been subtitled and is ready for your eyes.*

Our crowdfunded English fansubs for BiS Road to Budokan: Kokugikan are officially ready for public consumption!

The link to the most up-to-date public release will always be here on GitHub.

You can probably right-click and save from that link, or you can download it in a zip from the GitHub repo here.

I believe the subtitles are ready for everyone to check out and share around, but you can still contribute edits and improvements at any time!

Thanks again to the donors who made it happen, and fishpockets from JPS in particular who did basically all of the timing!

The one that lives in a trash can

And now that that project is out of the way, boans has asked for input on which might be the next of these projects:

Behind the Scenes with Splash!(.)

Remember Splash!(?) One of those hard-luck-but-rising-from-the-ashes rock idol units? They’ve been building to a one-man at Shinjuku ReNY coming up on July 25, and are promoting that with a little documentary “Road to” series:
