When last we saw Desu.Rabbits, they were planning a new single with some very interesting art. Yesterday, the MV landed … or should I say MVs! There are two of them! It’s … the title is really long but about the very title of this post, coming at you in two versions!
I thought I’d take a look at what all Desu.Rabbits were up to after doing that other bunny thing, and wouldn’t you know it, they’ve been slowly releasing tidbits of their first one-man. It’s a live digest, but hell, it’s in four parts, that’s enough video to be many idols’ entire performance month:
This is really fun, and perfect for you Sunday start-up — Desu.Rabbits, who continue to wheedle their way into my fickle heartbleed, had themselves a fun little beach party that was just all over Twitter:
I’m such a disaster sometimes, you guys; this happened yesterday and I started to get a post together, and then I had to run out the door and was actually busy-busy at work except for the little bit of time that I took to share that Necroma tickets thing, which put me further behind the 8 ball and now here we are, a day late but still:
I feel so out of touch that I can’t remember if I’d ever even pointed out the new single, but this is “Ichima Spring,” possibly, machine translation and all. What really matters is “pyon-pyon-pyon” and yes of course that’s in the song. Continue reading →
In one of the weirder experiences in my time following idols, I was sort of vaguely aware the other day that Desu.Rabbits was going to have something happening because of one of those “RT this so many times” tweets, but I didn’t follow up immediately and forgot about it AND THEN I saw the official account tweet out video, the still of which had Bucho looking all official and business-y.
Now, I’m an idiot, so I immediately pinged the Bunnies and the fan club to see what was happening, and that before I even tried the video itself, which was obviously many months old. Oops. So I corrected course, only for Bucho himself to respond to my original entreaty:
Ah, the ONEMAN isn’t just for him leaving, it’s for the dissolving of the entire group. Again, as per my older post, I still think it’s a hoax for many reasons. But, make no mistake, it’s about the WHOLE group, not just one without him.
As we know, Deathrabbits may in fact be preparing for a Bucho-less future. The much-maligned manager/vocalist/shoddy investor was put on notice a few months back, being told that his financial shenanigans were leading him to be booted from the group, his last live scheduled for a November date at LIQUID.
Deathrabbits did go ahead and release this video for “Anger” just a little bit ago, still featuring the man about to be formally fired, so one could conceivably believe that this is all just a sham, a put-on, some grand game with the feelings of the Deathrabbits Army.
I do believe that this little featurette will put those feelings to rest. Continue reading →
You may remember this recent news that, due to financial malfeasance, the much-maligned Bucho — manager, male/death vocalist, stormtrooper — of Deathrabbits was being purged from the group’s rolls, and there was a possible last-ever live coming up and, well, some people were stoked and others were sad and others were puzzled because they had no idea what was going on. Being the responsible and respectful purveyor of idol news that I am, I did everything possible to stoke the fires of rampant speculation.
Before I even start, yes, I do sometimes think, “What up with Deathrabbits?” After the debacle that was the Corenament final, my heart started to open to them, and their dedicated champions in the West made sure that news was always available, and I even liked their album. But then things got quiet, and I stopped paying as close of attention, and … well, then Friday happened, leading us here to the other half of Death of Death Pop Sunday!
Jul gets the credit for the tip in this case, too, though it was ultimately Char T Saki and Phillter who parsed out these somewhat confusing details.
To celebrate the release of their pretty good second album, Deathrabbits held a two-day event at Shinjuku ReNY that was recorded for a live DVD to be released in the fall. In the summer, though, they went ahead and released a substantial teaser for it!
I mean, it’s an hour long. That’s a ton of free content. What exactly is it that you’re going to try to sell, Deathrabbits?
